I love a good vertical garden, or ‘living wall’ if you will… as evidenced by several tutorials in my plant archives. And I’ve been seeing so many insanely creative versions of wall planters lately (both for sale and DIY versions) that are getting my plant-loving heart all a pitter patter. I thought it would be fun to gather up a bunch of my fave vertical planters for indoors and outdoors to share with you!

Let’s start with the DIY ones first, shall we?
This first one has the appearance of stacked crates, and is such an easy build! Complete with building plans from my friend Jaime at That’s My Letter!
I love the industrial feel of this walled garden planter, and wouldn’t it be perfect for herbs and spices?! I love that terra cotta is considered a ‘neutral’ these days. Such a pretty pop of color! And this is actually an IKEA Have of the Hyllis Shelf!
This ‘hanging gutter planter was made by meeee! And I love how this vertical planter, paired with the bamboo shade, provides an amazing wind barrier for what’s otherwise and uncomfortably windy north side of our front porch. Do you love the cedar trim I added to the gutters? Or would you have just left them white?
I’m totally obsessed with this vertical monogram planter by Ellery Designs. Come on now! It doesn’t get more unique than that! And she teaches you how! I personally am not prepared to tackle the letter S for our last name, so I’m just going to stand back and admire her flowery K.
This next vertical planter is so sleek and fits perfectly in the corner, adding a fun pop of life and personality! And I love that it hangs from the ceiling and draws the eye up.
You know I love a good repurposed project… would you believe this is the side of a baby crib? Repurposed into this amazing walled garden with little buckets! So cute!

My friend Jen from House of Wood never ceases to amaze me with her creativity. She took this living wall box and took it to the next level with the chevron detail. I would think they would also help with keeping the succulents in place. Brilliant!
Here’s another one by yours truly. I cut some thrifted wooden bowls in half to make this Vertical Living Wall Planters for our Modern Boho Master Bedroom, and if you’re wondering, all those plants are STILL THRIVING! See my post for beginner houseplant owners for curing your black thumb.
The simplicity and tiny details (HELLO hand-lettering) on this next one are so charming. And how simple is this tutorial?!
Ironically I had done a very similar version of this, only miniature! This is so simple with tiny terra cotta pots and hose clamps. Click the image below for the tutorial!
I couldn’t share a Vertical Garden Roundup without including this insanely creative living wall using broken china and teacups! Can you even handle the brilliance of this idea?!
Now let’s jump into the vertical garden examples that you can BUY! Although let’s be honest, some of these could totally be DIYed too. Which one is your fave? (sources listed below the graphic):

Aren’t these living walls so gorgeous and practical? Especially if you’re short on space! Now the question is, are you going to buy or DIY?
