If you follow us on Instagram, you know I like to bake. It’s easy to blame my soft belly on the twin pregnancy… but the truth is, I just like pastries.
Ever since I posted this picture on IG a few weeks ago, we’ve had several people ask for the recipe.

WE DELIVER!
{be advised that this recipe will be able to feed your neighborhood for at least a week}
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- 6 cups all purpose flour (divided)
- 2 pkg yeast
- 1⅛ T baking powder
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 T dry milk
- 1½ t salt
- ¾ cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- melted butter
- cinnamon sugar mixture
- Mix together 2 cups flour, yeast, baking powder, sugar, dry milk and salt. Add shortening and mix well. Add 2 cups hot water and mix at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add 1 cup flour and eggs; mix at fast speed for 1 minute. Add 3 cups flour and kneed for 10 minutes. Separate dough in to two separate balls. Roll the first ball out with a rolling pin until approx ¼” thick. Spread melted butter over entire surface, and LIBERALLY sprinkle cinnamon/sugar mixture over the butter. Roll up dough and slice using dental floss and place in a greased 9×13 pan. Leave 1”space around each cinnamon roll. (repeat with second ball of dough). Cover with tea towel and let rise for 10 mins. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Check the ones in the center by sticking a fork in to see if it’s still doughy.
- I like them best without icing, but sometimes we mix some up by adding a small amount of milk to a cup of powdered sugar. It doesn’t take much milk! Start with a dribble and stir, you can always add more until it’s the perfect consistency. Mix in a splash of vanilla and you’re SET!
Cinnamon rolls are EASILY my FAV breakfast food. I could eat them every day. I've tried 2 different made from scratch recipes and they were awful. One needed 4 hours to rise (who wants to be up in the middle of the night making dough – or waiting till lunch to enjoy?!). I'm excited to try this recipe – and the pictures make my mouth water – so i bet they will be MUCH better than my last two attempts. Thanks for sharing.
Pinned! Love you and your TALL flip-phone hubby!
Ermergerd yum!!!!!
I'm parital to my mom's homemade cinnamon rolls, but these look AMAZING!!! Anyways, one time my mom made cinnamon rolls for a church breakfast, and during the announcement time at church one of the members stood up and said "special thanks to Lisa for bringing her world famous buns to breakfast" …………….. my sister and i and everyone else was thinking 'OMG! act normal, act normal, don't laugh, don't laugh' best memory of church as a little girl ever.
