Dudes and dudettes… THANK YOU for granting me privileges to take a last-minute leave of absence. I needed it somethin’ fierce. Now that I’m feeling refreshed and well-rested (ish), you can expect me to be at the top of my game. At least for the remainder of this week.
Ok, I can commit to TODAY for sure.
I enjoyed the break, but it’s also nice to be back! You deserve an update at the very least… and that’s exactly what you’re gonna get. (if you follow on instagram… you’ll find you’re pretty up to speed!)
We failed miserably in our attempt to switch the twinkies from two naps to one. As in, except for ONE DAY (when they took a 4 hour nap) they couldn’t hold out past 9:30 in the morning without needing to crash. And that’s a guaranteed need for a second nap, folks. True, there’s nothing wrong with two naps… but there IS something wrong with the girlfriends throwing a party in the crib for TWO HOURS every night before they finally drop. I think instead of trying to switch them to one nap… we need to invest in some hefty black-out curtains, and a video monitor.
Nick celebrated his 31st birthday on Sunday. There was monkey bread involved, and I got him a new shirt similar to his fave. Cause I got tired of him wearing the same shirt. He chose to celebrate the big 3-1 by mowing all day. And then we had some family out to grill for supper, which ended as quickly as it started when tornado’s started rolling in. Our hearts are heavy for those affected by weather-related tragedy this week. I’m still struggling to process it all.
On Nick’s birthday, his sister Sarah birthed a sweet baby boy to share his birthday with him. Payton James. We can’t wait to meet him in a couple weeks!
My headaches have subsided (THANK GOD!) but my back still hurts like the fires of hell. Thanks to all of you who have suggested remedies. I’m seeing my Dr and taking it easy, and every so often I take some powerful drugs.
We Nick got our garden planted. There’s been LOTS of mowing. The kittens have all found homes. We’ve been soaking up the sunshine, letting the girls run free in the yard (free-range toddlers?). They love exploring, swinging, sliding, looking for kitties, and helping plant the garden. They aren’t afraid of bugs, and don’t mind dirt between their toes.
I’ve been installing the backsplash in the bathroom, and… AS USUAL, it’s taking about 10x longer than I planned. But it looks freaking amazing, and no you may not see a sneak preview.
But you CAN see a preview of this incredibly intricate plaque of Louisiana that I skillfully cut with my scroll saw for a client on our Etsy Shop. It was time consuming, but it looks impressive… right? Wielding power tools makes me feel pretty bad-ass.
Speaking of our Etsy Shop, we’re getting ready to launch a new item! It’s an idea that I came up with myself, and I’m really excited to share it with you tomorrow… along with a tutorial!
