Christmas Tree Traditions

November 29, 2013 by Bethany Sy

Happy Friday-of-a-long-weekend! Did you go shopping this morning? We got groceries… does that count?

Before I show you our Christmas tree acquisition/decoration, I have an announcement to make! If your name is SHARON and you have an email from me in your inbox… you’re the winner of our Scroll Saw Giveaway… WOOHOO!!! Congrats Sharon!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Soooo we went and cut down our tree! This tradition is really special to me, and filled with childhood memories of searching for the perfect tree.
I had high hopes for making it really fun for the girls… but it just didn’t go as planned. Della took it upon herself to scream the whole time because she wanted ‘the orange tree’. I kid you not.
It was cold, Dell was screaming, and my patience was low. So Nick made an executive decision, picked a tree, and chopped it down. And then we retreated.photo 2 (2)
The girls faces projected PURE DELIGHT as we got out twinkle lights and ornaments. Paisley would gasp with delight with each item being pulled out of the boxes.
They ‘helped’ with every part of the Christmas tree decorating. And I congratulated myself every 30 seconds for not having an anxiety attack. It was pretty chaotic/magical. The Christmas music playing in the background, and a spiced apple candle burning… Perfect.
Then we watched a movie and ate homemade pizza… and put the girls to bed. GLORIOUS.
I’m so excited for this holiday season and watching the girls experience and make new memories! I could NOT be more blessed!
    This is such a wonderful, happy and warm post. Definitely one of those “feel goods” that makes your heart smile! Your family is so beautiful. I love the girls’ faces in all these pictures. It’s so cute to see them experience these things and take in all the magic. You and Nick are such great parents. Your tree looks so beautiful in your home! It’s going to be a great Christmas Season 🙂
    LOL! This post made me laugh (in a good way). I let our toddler twin girls help us decorate our tree yesterday and it was total chaos, but bliss all at the same time. I wound up repositioning all the ornaments later, but I am so glad I let them help. They had so much fun. Glad to see your girls enjoyed it, too (and that you survived the tree selection process)!
    Oh honey……..This brings back sweet memories for me..When my twins were about 2, after doing the tree and having hot chocolate, they fell asleep under the tree. Pure joy!
    The orange one. Awesome. May not have gone as you planned, but still a great memory you’ll never forget! Your face in that pic… Priceless. Thank god I’m allergic to real trees and we have a pre-lit. Stringing lights looks awful. Lol. M&P helped put up ornaments and candy canes, about 6 to a branch on average. 🙂 mommy had to re-decorate after they went to bed. Yesterday Macy tried to hang a gift box because it had a ribbon on the top. Now if I can only get them to stop grabbing the jingle ornaments and shaking the whole tree… Christmas with two 2 year olds is awesome!! 🙂
    I could so hear in my mind “I want the ORANGE TREE” That is exactly how my girls would have been at that age. Soooo adorable! Congratulations on a beautiful family, especially when they are asleep. 😉
