Annual Fam Camping 2012

July 4, 2012 by Bethany Sy

Each and every year, my entire immediate family (along with corresponding spouses, children and fiancé’s) goes camping on the 4th of July weekend. Since the 4th lands on a Wednesday this year (TODAY!!), we decided to camp last weekend instead of having a mid-week situation.

I don’t know what part of the country you’re from, but here in Iowa… it was grossly HOT. I’m talking, like the fires of hell type of hot. There were moments of fun (splunking, swimming in the lake, fishing, and whathaveyou) but I think I can speak for everyone when I say… this year, camping was pretty miserable. And that’s really saying something, considering last year’s 4th-of-July-Camping-Trip I was full-term with twins (and delivered 4 days later).

Here’s the whole group of us. This picture turned out pretty great considering I put my camera on a cooler, set the timer, and ran to grab Adelyn, sit down, and smile. The babes aren’t really looking forward, but that’s ah-kay.

I didn’t want to bore everyone with an excessively photographed event, so I whipped up this compact little picture collage that pretty much tells the story of our trip.

I have to say, it was still very fun. The girlies were real troopers, and handled the extreme heat better than I did. But by the end, we were all pooped, and real ready to get home to our air conditioning.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday. It was a great day of relaxing, unpacking, and working on furniture (a piece that I’m suuuuuuuper excited about!). It’s weird to be 30, but I don’t hate it. I feel pretty neutral about it actually. Anywho… don’t forget to enter yourself in our Retract-A-Gate Giveaway!! And Happy 4th-Of July!!
