Well, I’m still pregnant. Should be for another 3 weeks if the Doc has his way. Girlfriends are about 5.5 lbs and doing the river-dance on my pelvic floor. My skin has stretched to epic proportions. My swelling could be documented in the Guiness Book of World Records. I have 3 suitable maternity shirts remaining. At home, I wear Nick’s basketball shorts and XL T-shirts that still aren’t long enough to cover the bottom of my belly. Kinda makes a girl feel a little trashy!
I put makeup on for my photoshoot today. Consider yourselves loved.
The heat index for today is 110 degrees. I’ll be indoors.
Baby A has reclaimed her place as first to exit. Her little breach bottom is covering the full surface area of my trapdoor. Baby B is head down (!!) and only partially transverse anymore (horizontal), but she’s Vertex… meaning, she’s nowhere close to pushing her way back over the exit ramp. And because I’ve reached 34 weeks (when twins typically don’t play musical chairs cervix anymore), we’ll be scheduling a c-section for the 3rd-ish week in July.
I REALLY want to push them out and have that full experience. Not to mention avoiding the 2 week recovery time that comes with a c-section. But as long as those girls are healthy, I don’t care how they enter into the world. They entered my uterus in a non-traditional way, why not? Doc doesn’t know how much longer I’ll make it… but I refuse to give in and allow myself to feel handicapped just yet!

You are beautiful. There is something about a pregnant women…they have a special glow. I had a c-section with my daughter. Born at 34 weeks, was breech and I had low amniotic fluid. The c-section was a pie of cake. I was so scared and worried about it but honestly once your little baby (babies) are born your motherly instinct kicks in and you are so focused on them that it makes you recover quicker from the c-section. Enjoy every moment because it goes so fast. My daugther is turning 4 this year. Take Care and God Bless.

I also enjoy your blog but do not usually comment – but had to at this post. I have had 3 c-sections, my latest just 5 months ago. Each one was very different, but the one piece of advice I would glean from all 3 would be to take it easy but not baby yourself either in terms of recovery. I hope that makes sense… you’ll be surprised just how anxious you are to get up and walk around after being pregnant for so long even if you did just have major surgery. At the same time, don’t overdo it because then you can move backwards in regard to recovery. Good luck!

You look like I did when I was pregnant… my son was 10 pounds & 11 ounces!! I had to have an emergency c-section, because he was so huge. Recovery wasn’t too bad, you just have to be careful with lifting. Make sure you plan to have lots of helpers once babies are here! 🙂 YOU’LL do GREAT!
You look great! I had a c-section (10months ago with a single baby boy) and the recovery isn’t so bad. They help you prepare for home a lot at the hospital. Some advice: when they let you get up do it, you will be glad you did 🙂 The more you do at the hospital (that they let you of course) the easier it is once you get home.
I had a C-Section with my little boy 8 months ago. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. The day I was released from the hospital I actually went in for a job interview. lol.
I stalk your blog and love it. I never really comment on the blogs I stalk but I just wanted to tell you I am so excited for you. I am also expecting twins (boys) right now conceived thru fertility treatments due in September. It has been fun for me to read about your adventures in pregnancy because I can totally relate. Back in the day, I had 2 C-sections, one planned and one not. It was a long and hard recovery. A year ago, my daughter had a C-section. To say the least, it was a piece of cake! She did so well, I did not even go to Des Moines to help her! (Even though I felt guilty the whole time that I wasn’t there!) You will do fine as determined as you are, you will handle it like a champ you are! PS – You love beautiful! Don’t kid yourself!
You are so beautiful, just forget the swelling. An amazing blessing has been given to your family and it is great to see you be so positive about and aware of that blessing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Motherhood is the most amazing blessing!!!
I had a c-section three months ago, and the recovery wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. My mom and mother in law tag-teamed us and stayed for a week, which was a HUGE help.
