4-Year-Old Gift Guide

Our girl turned 4 last week, and I just CAN’T. Something about my youngest going from 3 to 4 feels like I’m losing my baby. I know she’ll always be my baby… blah blah blah. But age 4 definitely seems more big-kiddish. And the moment she starts calling it an ‘umbrella’ instead of ‘Gumbrella’ I will seriously lose it.

Despite her Birthday being in February, Cypress decided LAST FALL she wanted to have a train cake, and has asked about it every day since. Our girl loves trains, and I love decorating cakes. So you better believe THIS WAS HAPPENING! It brought me so much joy to make this train cake for her! (Elsa being on the cake was a non-negotiable)

With her Birthday just passing, and Christmas being only a couple months ago, we’re full of good ideas for gifting 4-year-olds! PLUS, it’s become a bit of a tradition to share a gift-guide around Cypress’ Birthday. Check out our gift guides for 3 year olds, 2 year olds, and 1 year olds!

So let me share some things that we got her (or thought about getting her!) to give you some gift ideas for YOUR 4-year-old!

Gift Ideas for 4-Year-Olds

We got Cypress this marble run for Christmas, and she could watch that marble go down over and over again for hours. It’s also fun to build different designs with all the different pieces, and it really gets the wheels turning in her brain to figure out which way each piece needs to go to direct the marble. So fun!

My sister-in-law got this Boggle Jr game for Cypress, and I kid you not… she went from knowing about 4 letters to KNOWING THEM ALL in one sitting. I’m not joking. And she sits and plays this game independently for hours. I can’t explain it.

I don’t know where you stand on kids riding scooters in the house, but we are pro-scooter… at least until our floors get refinished next month. LOL! This isn’t the exact scooter we got our girl, but ANY SCOOTER WILL DO. This is the single most used gift she has gotten. (and one of the most inexpensive!)

You know I had to include Grimm’s Rainbow! Of course you could make this using our tutorial instead of buying it. There are soooooo many fun things to do with this wooden rainbow. And I’m learning that they’re fun for all ages!

We didn’t buy this for her, but I’m wishing I had! 😉 She loves stacking and sorting, and I love education. So this shape and number stacker seems like such a win!

We made these little Coloring Tablets for the twins when they were about 4, and they have been such a big hit ever since. They’re perfect for throwing in your purse for outings (waiting rooms, long car rides, restaurant entertainment, etc)! Cypress has recently started to loooooove coloring, so I need to make her one with her name on it now too!

We don’t own these Colorful Magnetic Tiles, but Cypress plays with them at school and LOVES them. It really gets her little brain subconsciously thinking about structural integrity, which makes her engineer-daddy very happy.

This age group loooooves sensory, and trust me when I say this little Goo Tube is an absolute miracle. As in, my child will hold it on car rides, and just silently stares as the goo falls through the hole and lands in a little mesmerizing spiral.

This one is a big hit in our house… you just can’t go wrong with a remote control ANYTHING. Even if you’re not a #boymom (eyeroll). And this little remote control car is simple enough for a 3-4 year old to maneuver it around the room with ease!

These last few are ones that we don’t own, but think would be a great gift idea for 4-year-olds!

Our kids see us using tools all day ‘er’ day, so I have a feeling this wooden tool set would be a gigantic hit in our home. I love that it even comes in a carrying case!

If you can’t tell, I’m a big fan of toys that promote learning, creativity and problem solving. I love these Geoboards that come with cards that have different shapes to form with rubber bands.

I need to buckle down and teach my 7-year-olds how to tell time (hangs head in shame), so this sorting clock would come in handy for that, as well as a fun sorting toy for the 4-year-old (and maybe she’ll learn to tell time before she’s 7). 😉

Finally, This last thing I’ve hesitated to pull the trigger on because of the noise factor. But I come from a very musical family (and my kids are showing signs too!) so I really should just pull the trigger. I can see them all putting on a full-on concert with this musical instrument set!
