Anyway, as you know, our littlest babe had her very first Birthday last week. As a mamma, it’s such a conflicting feeling to be so excited for new developments and exciting changes… yet also mourning the heartbreaking reality that they don’t stay babies forever.

Baby Book by Lucy Darling
As we were preparing for her birthday and thinking about gifts for our girl, we were reminded that Cypress is ‘the girl that has EVERYTHING’. She has a wealth of super cute clothes and more toys and books than she knows what to do with. She doesn’t even need any practical things (like a carseat, winter coat or stroller).
Obviously, since she’s still a baby, she doesn’t know or care that it’s her birthday; and certainly doesn’t expect anything. But we wanted to make it a special event nonetheless. And especially get the older girls involved in blessing her on her birthday and starting a tradition of making people feel loved on their birthdays.
While we kept things minimal and mostly sentimental/homemade, I did some looking online and ordered a couple small things. And I thought if we had so much trouble coming up with gifts for a 1-year-old, surely there are others too. So I saved a few of my favorite non-battery-powered gifts for one year olds that are super cute and fun for baby to share with you!
This cheerful octopus bath toy also serves as a ‘ring’ toss game! Step aside rubber ducky.
How cute is this little red wagon?! I love that also can be used as a ‘walker’ to help your little one feel steady and safe when learning to take those first steps!!
I can tell you from personal experience that this tunnel toy can and will provide your tot with mannnnny hours of fun… and subsequently mannnnny hours for you to look at Facebook uninterrupted. AND it folds down flat for storage.
This shape sorting cube is a classic toy that most of us remember from our childhoods. And I love that it teaches shapes, colors, and sorting skills!
Board books are always a hit, and ones with ‘peek-a-boo’ flaps are even better! This ‘Dear Zoo’ book is super sturdy and cute!
This super cute Banana Toothbrush makes brushing more fun and the bristles are made out of silicone! Also great for teething babies to chew on!
This little bendy caterpillar is just plain cute. #thatisall
I’m normally not a fan of NOISY toys, but these adorable shakers fall on the ‘less annoying’ side of the noise scale. And it could almost be considered a musical instrument, so that makes the music major in me happyyyy!
How cute is this giant fish kiddie pool? I love that you can position it to also provide shade from the sun for your tot while he/she is splashing and playing. AND you could repurpose it as a ball pit indoors during the non-summer months!
I think we can all agree that every one-year-old needs their own tools. Next year? TABLE SAW.
There you have it! A fun collection of brightly colored non-annoying toys for the 1-year-old in your life! But let’s be honest, a cardboard box and a rubber spatula would make them pretty darn happy too, so don’t break the bank.
It’s so much more important to make special memories and start meaningful traditions that your kids will cherish forever! And don’t forget the power of MAKING gifts. It’s usually cheaper, and more sentimental that way!

Good ideas! We also have a tunnel, with a detachable cube. My kids are now 9 and 11 and still won’t let me get rid of it! It lives in the basement and often gets used when friends are over.

Lol… I love that! 🙂

We have one of those mouth pools too and my kids LOVE it! We use it as a ball pit inside or in the garage during the colder months. 🙂 Our tunnel is OUR FAVE! Literally HOURS of fun. Ours has a couple of connecting pop-up cube “house” things with it. I love that it all folds up nicely and doesn’t take up much room in the closet. That banana tooth brush is sooooo cute! I’m going to go find one of those for Noah. He loves brushing his “teet!”

HAHA… his Teet? Precious. 🙂
