St. Patty’s Kool-Aid Popcorn!

March 4, 2014 by Bethany Sy

Hey everybody! It’s Meghan from Cupcakes with Sprinkles! Its March and with my kids I feel like I need to celebrate every holiday. We never really celebrated St. Patrick’s Day when I was young other than my brothers pinching us if we didn’t wear green. So we are having green foods all month cause how often do you get to eat green food. I mean really, it sounds gross. But this isn’t! This popcorn is sweet, tangy, and I mean, my kids will eat anything that looks like candy. Here we go!

These are the things we need…

Preheat your oven to 225 degrees. And pop your popcorn in a paper bag in the microwave using this method…

In a  medium saucepan put your sugar, corn syrup, and butter…

Bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes while constantly stirring…

Remove from the heat and put in the Kool Aid and baking soda. Stir well…

Pour over your popcorn and stir until completely coated. Bake in the oven for 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Remove from the oven, spray parchment paper with baking spray. Let cool completely before breaking into pieces.

I couldn’t stop eating the green syrup that was left on the sides of the pan! It reminded us of the flavor of the green fruit tootsie rolls!
