BEAUTIFUL Inspiration for Quiet Busy Books

October 17, 2013 by Bethany Sy

I’m so excited to shamelessly share my mom’s amazing sewing talent with these incredibly intricate and colorful Quiet Books… or as some people call them Busy Books!

Quiet 'Busy' Books for children

I knew a lot of work went into each and every page, but when she made a book for each of my babes… I couldn’t believe how much love and effort went into each stitch! Prepare to be blown away.

The MOST ADORABLE collection of quiet book pages

I know that was a lot of pictures, but I just couldn’t help it. And that wasn’t even all the pages! The girls LOVE their ‘busy books’, and I love how they’re learning their colors and numbers… and how to share (even though they each have their own book).

SO many ideas for quiet book pages (or Busy Books)

I also love all the little pockets in these quiet busy books and how there’s a place for everything so there aren’t loose pieces to keep track of when putting them away. And these are GREAT for car rides!

I know I’m so lucky to have such a crafty mommy. 🙂

TONS of ideas for 'Busy Books' (or quiet books)

Making these Quiet Busy Books has become a full time job for her, and she’s been blessed with tons of business! Here’s a link to her Etsy shop The Fruitful Vine, but know that she’s pretty much booked through the end of the year, and has started a waiting list.

She also makes these adorable softies that are fashioned after children’s drawings.

Softies inspired by Chldren's Drawings

Thanks for letting me be prideful of my mom’s crazy talent. We’re definitely creative in different ways… and I TOTALLY covet her sewing skills and attention to detail.

What are you guys up to this weekend? Anything creative? Tackling a Quiet Busy Book?!

~Bethany

I’ve never visited your sight until now (followed a link from Domestic Imperfection). I’m from New Zealand and I had one of these books when I was a kid! Looking at these pictures sparked so many random, disconnected memories. I’d never thought about it since I was a little kid. Tell your mum thanks for the nostalgia!

I know Cheri, I’m so sorry. Ever since we did our site redesign, Feedly hasn’t been updating our readers with new posts anymore. We’re troubleshooting this issue, but haven’t worked it out yet. It’s so frustrating. I’m glad you missed us and came by to check in! 🙂

I’m sad we couldn’t come either. The girls have actually been sick the last couple days, so you wouldn’t have wanted us around your 3 anyway. We still need to get together SOON though!

Those books are great! Can you tell me what kind of felt she used-I would love to make one of these for my little one but the felt I am finding in most stores seems like it wouldn’t hold up well.
    Thanks!

Thank you for your kind comments! I just use the felt by the yard from Hobby Lobby or Joann’s. The pages are made from fabric, not felt. When I make pieces from the felt, I just about always sew together two pieces of felt for strength. They seem to hold up well.

Those are so nifty. Wish I could afford some for my girls.

We went to a pumpkin patch last weekend with some of my family. It was a pretty cool place, the entry fee was all-inclusive. We got to go on a hay ride, through a corn maze, slide down a giant slide, feed some goats and llamas, see horses and cows, ride ponies and pick our own little pumpkins. I was surprised at how much the girls liked the ponies after spening the last year of their lives TERRIFIED of their plush rocking horse that neighs and swishes his head and tail. I had to sell the thing they were so scared of it! However, they loved the real ponies and Macy kepy saying “Pony! Nice!” while we were riding. After a couple of times around the pen, Peyton started saying “No, no!”, but we convinced her it was okay and to stay on for just a minute longer.

I hope you guys find a fun one to visit!

OK, the terror of the plush rocking horse is hilarious! You’ll have to be sure to write that in their baby books. 🙂

WAY TO GO MOM!!!! sooo cool & wow the talent!!! I remember a sewing class in school… it was a simple project… cut out these shapes & we’ll make a cupcake pillow… sound easy right?? yeah, i was never one to follow the rules.. let alone staying within the lines… so i have this pillow that is MINE, but obviously… the frosting pieces are too small & gappy… LOL
oh the memories that the craft projects bring back to us as adults, can you imagine the memories that will stay with Del & Pais when they’re our age…. ahhhhh *memories…from the corner of my mind… misty water colored memories…. of the way we were….* yes i’m singing..
    😉
