We got married, moved to the country, and started a blog to document all of our new experiences in life… all in the same year!
We’ve become pros at problem-solving every little home dilemma we come across, and typically end up DIYing some sort of solution. It brings us joy, AND it saves us money!
BUT!
Several years ago, I thought it would be a good idea to DIY a solution to our fly problem. I even found inspiration for a fly-trap idea that was even kind of PRETTY! So I got down and dirty with sticky corn syrup and sugar. It was the hottest of messes, and ended up not even attracting or catching any houseflies. What the! #pinterestfail!
So we’ve been just dealing with the fly problem ever since. And over the years, they’ve evolved into BITING FLIES. And I’m so over it
So when Zevo reached out to us to try their new fly insect catching product, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. I will try anything. And I was so pleasantly surprised to find that they aren’t nasty-looking! These little flying insect traps almost look like a piece of home décor themselves… and give off a soft blue glow to attract those little pests. Zevo uses blue and UV light to lure them into it’s trap!
We learned it’s important to move the Zevo flying insect trap around to find the best location, and we found that our most-used entrance (into our kitchen/mudroom area) is most effective. We also love that’s it’s a fruit fly trap too!
I’ve been making a conscious effort to decrease the chemicals we use in our home, and love that Zevo’s little flying insect traps are a natural alternative to chemical insecticides! I also love that when you only have to change the cartridge every month or so, AND you don’t have to touch the nasty thing! Sign me up!
We found that these also work really well in our garage, which is also our workshop. We spend a lot of time out there, and there’s nothing worse than operating a power tool and having a fly biting your leg. Not cool man, not cool. Zevo will also attract and eliminate gnats, moths and mosquitos too!
Now if I could find something that would work this well for crickets. Remember my aversion to crickets? It’s an irrational phobia I’m not proud of, but I’m getting better! Hehe!
What is your biggest insect problem in your home? Do you think you’ll give Zevo’s modern pest control a try?! Let us know how it works for you!

I am very interested in trying this out. I currently use fly strips but these would look much nicer.

We had a huge spider issue when we moved into our first house last year. It was a foreclosure and when we first looked at it there were no bugs. I think they may have just cleaned it and it was great. Fast forward 2 months once we closed the sale and we had so many spiders. My husband hates bugs but really dislikes spiders. I’m not fond of them either but he is worse. I told him we just had to let them know someone was actually living here and they’d move out. It got better but we had a small influx again this spring. I bought peppermint oil and mixed up a natural spray. Everyone kept saying set off a bug bomb before you move in or call someone to spray but I didn’t want the chemicals around us or our cat.
