Trimming Trees – Stihl Pole Pruner

September 18, 2019 by Bethany Sy

As we continue on our journey to up the curb appeal of our home, we knew we needed to address the giant pine tree in the front yard. It’s one of those trees that you can tell by the trunk size that it’s been there for many decades. I also probably hasn’t been trimmed in that long either, and the branches hang VERY low. Like a tent.

*This post is sponsored by Stihl. Thank you for supporting the fabulous brands that make Reality Daydream possible! *

Nick got tired of fighting the branches while mowing, and finally decided to do something about it. And it was perfect timing for the rest of us too, because the girls have been begging for a rope swing, and this is the only tree in our yard to make that happen.

Make no mistake… although the branches are hanging low, they’re attached to the tree VERY high up. And this was the perfect job for our Pole Pruner by Stihl!

But the real truth is… Nick jumps at any opportunity to get down and dirty with his lawn care power equipment, and suit up in allll the PPE safety gear. My personal favorite is the chaps.

This could have been a huge pain-of-a-task without the right tools, but the pole pruner is designed to take on those branches that are out of reach of your basic chainsaw. This baby is easy to start, has tough/dependable engines, and comes apart for easy storage! And it’s SO handy that it’s battery powered!

Having those low-hanging branches gone opens up our front yard SO MUCH. And the addition of the rope swing has brought countless hours of outdoor play time to our kiddos (and therefore uninterrupted time for Nick and I to work on house projects!)

It’s amazing how these little changes to our landscaping make such a big visual difference! We’re still loving how crisp are amazing our sidewalks look now that we’ve been edging them. WHAT WILL BE NEXT?! We’ve got some bushes that need trimming pretty desperately. Hmmmmm!

Reality Daydream is my favorite blog. EVER! Love all your projects but my fav is the wood stained table tops. Last week, while “curb-shopping” found an old yet regal kitchen table and that’ll be my first try at staining.

And, your 6 steps in the creative process is so spot on! You two are nailing it! PUN 🙂

So glad I found your blog. Thanks so much, Bethany and Nick
