Stocking up the Firewood Stash

October 6, 2023 by Bethany Sy

Having a wood burning fireplace has been amazing. We have no regrets! That toasty smell and the energy savings alone are worth it! And every fall we stock our stash by chopping firewood to get us through the winter.

This year, our friend, Adam, let us come chop up a downed tree on his beautiful property in rural Iowa. Would you look at this landscape?

And what a gorgeous fall day for chopping firewood! Nick used our Cant Hook to turn the trunk and the Log Stand to hold it up away from the ground to make an easy cut for the MS 311 STIHL Chainsaw. What a setup!

We love the MS 311 for the high fuel economy, large fuel tank and long run time. It’s a beast at chopping firewood! Ain’t nobody got time for breaks when there’s work to do! Unless there are snacks involved. 😉

Can you tell this guy is living his best life?!

Once we got it all down to stumps, it’s time to bring in the Wood Cutter Splitting Maul. This bad boy has a heavy duty 6.6 lb head for driving wedges and splitting large logs. Dare I saw chopping firewood is FUN?!

All in a day’s work!

Would we be bad parents if we put our kids to work stacking firewood? Because this job’s not over! 🙂
