Can’t help but love these cool mornings. I’m a lover of socks and hoodies, and usually utilize them off and on throughout the summers… but not this summer.
This summer I’ve been found barefoot and in scandalous cami’s, standing in front of the open freezer. So as you can imagine, these brisk fall mornings are welcome here. The girls are sleeping in later these days, now that it’s staying dark later. I would probably sleep later too, if I didn’t love my morning time with my sweetie pie before he heads off to earn an income.
I particularly love the dew on the grass that reflect the sun just popping up from behind a cornfield. I also appreciate the sudden drop in the cricket population.
I didn’t blog yesterday for two reasons…
1. There was a LOT of laundry to be done. For some reason, my once-a-month grocery mindset carries over to laundry. NOT GOOD!
2. I’ve been working on a little somethin-somethin.
It’s actually DONE. But I’m not going to show you until next week, because I like to spread out my creative posts. And I’m mean like that.
Perhaps this picture of my little Delly will make you forgive me?
Did it work?
Lately I’ve been reflecting on how wonderful the internet is. My girl Meg wrote a lovely post on this topic recently, and she’s so so right! I couldn’t possibly have said it better than she did. Girlfriend has a way with words. I feel so blessed to have met so many wonderful friends through the internet and blogging.
Those of you that are regulars here on the blog, and comment occasionally so I know you’re there… well, let’s just say I feel like we’re bff’s. If we could meet in real life, I believe we’d be fast friends.
I had the good fortune of being able to MEET one of my readers a couple days ago! She’s a wonderful seamstress, and had made the girls beautiful dresses when they were born (they just now fit! I’ll have to take pics soon!), and she recently contacted me to let me know she has a ton of fabric, lace and painting supplies to pass on to me.
Some people have such an astounding gift of generosity. And that she thought to give it to ME… a complete stranger… well it’s a little crazy. Crazy-awesome.
I am so grateful and EXCITED to play with all this stuff. For a girl that isn’t very savvy with a sewing machine, I sure do have a love for textiles.
She gave us a TON of painting supplies too, which I couldn’t photograph because it’s in the back of our Jeep that Nick took to work. I’m especially excited to try out some of the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and Finishing Wax!
Cynthia and I had a lovely visit, and I got to see her home and some of her projects. I so desperately wish I could meet every one of you and snoop around your house.
I would too. I would snoop through your whole house.
I love seeing what other people come up with, and what their décor styles are. It’s a weird obsession right up there with thrifting and garage-saling. I guess all these things could fall into the same compulsive category of loving to see/dig through other people’s stuff.
I’m sure there will be pills for this soon.
I’ll leave you with this picture of the flowers Nick brought home for the girls and I when he returned from his business trip over the weekend.
I hit the jackpot with this boy, I’m tellin’ ya.

OMG- have you ever seen the commercial with the guy driving his wife through a really nice neighborhood so she can look in peoples windows? That’s totally me! I love seeing how people decorate and use their sense of style in their home! Living in a townhome and moving from FL to NY has not allowed me to go crazy yet, but SOON! This summer- I will be decorating a boy/girl room for them to share and will be using your chevron painting style to add color to their room!
And those flowers- MELT MY FREAKING HEART <3 You’ve picked a winner.

Oh you guys… 🙂 LOVE THIS!
Now Renee, if we were to have a Blog-Stalker’s-Get-Together, that would mean I’d have to clean my entire house, and not just the room that I’m photographing at the moment.
And I’m always afraid that no one will show up when we entertain. 🙂

Bethany: I think you should hold a “blog-stalkers” get-together down on the farm. That way, we meet you and your sweet family and you meet all of us. What fun would that be! And we could walk through your house “in-person” instead of through the internet! Just a suggestion……

I love you and your blog… you say compleat stranger… but to your readers you are like a friend. We know you, you just don’t know us. Kind of like a stalker but less freaky! I LOVE your new background. One day, I cannot wait to meet you. It would be som much fun to hangout with you!

I so SUPER love the new background design and LOVE LOVE LOVE the colore scheme of it!!!!!!!!!
And you are NOT alone in your passion of looking thru other people’s homes!!! While I am not a stalker, I have to admit that I do not dislike driving home at night thru my Dad’s neighborhood so I can look into the windows of the fancy houses to see how they have decorated their homes!! And I also enjoy looking at realtor.com to see the inside of those homes!! I have gotten some really good decorating ideas from those and it has helped my homes appearance a lot!! I love your blogso much that I can not start my morning until I have checked your site to see if you have posted on it, while I drink my coffee!! Thanks for sharing and making the rest of feel better about ourselves, knowing there are others out there like us with little idiosyncrasies!!

P.S. I really like your new blog background.

I laughed when you said you’d literally walk through the houses. Hey, at least you’re honest. That is one thing I appreciate is your honesty on your blog. I’d give you a tour of mine, but please give me a 24 hour notice so I can make sure it’s clean(or at least hide the dishes in the oven lol)You are a major inspiration to me with your creativity. I consider myself a creative person, but we all get inspiration somewhere don’t we.

I am going to admit to my ‘snoopy’ behavior………..I love driving by houses at night that have their curtains or blinds open and getting a peek of what their houses look like! Funny thing is I am the first one to shut the blinds when it starts to get dark because as I always say “I feel like I’m living in a fish bowl” if I don’t shut them. Because ya know……..there are snoopy people out there who love to steal a peek 😉 By the way, I am one of your lucky blog followers that got to meet you! (remember the little calico kitten back in August?) Yep that was me and her name is Daisy! She is such a cutie! By the way I love your new back drop on your page 🙂

I love your blog, when I first found it awhile back. I sat down one nihgt and went all the way back to the being and read the whole blog. You guys a awesome and love all your projects. I like to see how people live too. Thanks for sharing your life with us.

I comment now and then, and yes, I think we’d be friends. Anyway, I never felt like a “decor snoop” until we started house hunting this past summer. I LOVED going into people’s homes and I even told the realtor that I envied her job because she has seen IT ALL. Seriously. And, I’m sure she thought I was weird. But YOU don’t. That’s because we’re friends.
Beth Willmore says
Ok – those flowers are so cute! What a good guy to get you AND the girls a bouquet!
I think it’s funny that you want to look throug people’s houses! I have NO concept of what looks good. We just purchased a new home (and are moving in on Saturday – yay!) and I have a friend that’s really good with decor and design so I called her and said, “Hey, come through my new house with me and tell me what to do.”
So she did – right down to what paint color to buy and what couches to get. Oh well – it looks great when she’s done, and then I can totally claim credit for it!!

You guys are too stinkin SWEET! Who knew today would be “stalkers-come-out-of-hiding” day! I’m lovin it. 🙂

I follow your blog and it started with seeing your stencil painted kitchen walls! Seeing all that you & your hubby do with old furniture inspired me (with help from my hubby) to redo my husband’s grandparents’ (that recently passed away) old record player. We are about 90% finished and are using it as a console under our tv. It gives me so much more satisfaction knowing we recycled it and made it pretty again! I love seeing all of your makeovers and getting ideas! I would never have thought to do something like that a year ago! Your two little ones are always cute to see and fun to read about, too. 🙂

I love your blog – and it all started on Pinterest with that swirl glossy wall I think in your kitchen!! I actually get yelled at all the time by my husband for looking inside people houses when it just gets dark enough to see through the windows with the lamps on. I love it!!
I am a sort of “quilter” more of a blanket maker actually – and not a very good one but it is fun. I am amazed at how generous the people that do creative things like this are. There are always posts about a package that someone got from a “secret admirer” 🙂

Yeah, I’m pretty sure we’d be besties. A) I’m from Iowa and B) I garage sale every weekend and my house is full of treasures I’ve found. I’d love to give you a tour. Hmm…maybe I should update my blog instead of just reading everyone else’s and do that….

I have to admit, I did not even follow blogs until I stumbled over yours! Then I was hooked on yours hook, line and sinker! I look forward to pictures of your beautiful projects and your stinkin cute little girls. And, of course, I love your sense of humor. You are a girl after my own heart! Please don’t ever stop! I would be lost without you!! (That sounded a little creepy didn’t it but you get the idea!)

Yours was the very first blog I started reading, and I still have the crazy blue/green/tourquoise “tiles” that you painted in my kitchen! I love seeing your projects and watching your family grow. You have a happy spirit that just shines! Keep it up! AND you are one of the bloggers who inspired me to start a blog of my own, which is so fun!

I’m another one who gets crazy giddy when I see a new post from you. And would it be weird to admit that I recently went back through your pregnancy posts to admire how darn adorable you are! Ahh, I love your blog/projects/babes!

I always love reading your blog but I especially love the picture of the flowers your hubby got for his girls. The ones for your little girls are so cute! What a great Daddy 🙂

I love that you admitted you’d snoop through our houses. First time at a friends? I ask for the tour :)Open house in the neighborhood? I’m there. And yes, you lucked out on your boy. He’s a keeper.

As much as you love us, your readers, we love you more! Lol!! I read your blog every time you post and have looked at your projects and YOU are what inspired me to start painting my old furniture. I still need to send you pictures of my grandmother’s china cabinet that I have finished…but alas, after moving, I can’t find the darned camera cord. Of course! I also will send you pics of our shed that we have turned into a barn/chicken coop and our garden that my wonderful man has started making the fence for. We used all reclaimed wood from pallets and most materials we had or found. Well, except our 9 chickens, we had to buy them.
I truly enjoy your blog, your sense of humor and your love for your family. You have a devoted fan that will continue to visit for inspiration, ideas, laughs and sometimes a few tears. As a Mom of 6 boys, I love reading about your girls and the glimpses of their little lives. :o)

I admit to looking at real estate websites although we are not looking to buy a house. I just love looking inside other peoples homes, seeing how theu decorate, imagining what I’d do differently. Basically gaining inspiration.
