I have great news… you no longer need to lose sleep over your overwhelming curiosity for what color our bedroom walls would end up. I’ve temporarily overcome my bout with indecisiveness and finally just chose a color. I’m definitely not feeling inspired with this bedroom transformation the same way I was in the nursery. It could be because that was a labor of love for my long-awaited darlings, and the ideas just naturally flowed into my head. But one way or another, our bedroom needs a facelift… cause I can’t handle the beige any longer. I believe this is where we left off after the addition of the headboard, the nightstands, and the swag lamps.
I “tried out” about 100 different wall colors in my head, and nothing really jumped out at me and said PICK ME! So finally I had enough. While Nick, I and the girls were at Menards picking up some things, we stopped by the paint section and… just picked a color! I’m so proud of myself. I love how this color is not quite gray, but also not quite brown. I call it BRAY. It’s that center one… Oswego Tea by Pittsburgh Paints.
I like that it’s neutral, yet still unique and dramatic. In the pics, it kinda looks purple… but it’s not. So this is what our bedroom looks like from out in the hallway. And here’s a totally random angle that I thought showed the integrity of the color very well.
And this is the new wall color looking towards the bed. I love how deep and rich it is! And because our bedroom is a southeast room, we get tons of daylight in our room pretty much all day long… so we were able to get away with going dark. Do yourself a favor, and ignore our bedding situation… namely the RED (ew).
Here she is at night.
We’ve got some work to do with floor-planning. We’ve been batting around a few ideas, most of which include a seating area and quite possibly some shelving of some kind. And giving that dresser a new lease on life. But don’t hold your breath. We’re pretty slow-moving lately, what with two babies moving into the separation-anxiety phase of babyhood.
Do you have any projects you’re tackling over the holidays? Send me links to your blogs so I can feed off your creativity! I need some inspiration today, and Pinterest just isn’t doing it.
Cozy, I love it! I’m struggling with accessorizing our bedroom – namely how to address the windows / add some sort of treatment. I should send you a pic and see what you come up with! 😉
thanks for all the encouragement and advice! i did want to address the comment about placement of the bed… it would seem natural to put the bed in that little ‘cove’ on the opposite side of the room, but because of where the door is located, you would walk right into the bed when you enter the room. and have to SQUEEZE past it to get into the rest of the room. the placement of the door and windows isn’t ideal in this room. and the bedroom appears larger in pictures than it is in real life, so we’ve got our work cut out for us to make it a beautiful and functional ‘escape’. i will say that we’ve got a trick up our sleeve for how to rig a curtain on that window though! that’s next!
love it! i want a dark bedroom. i think your bedding should be fluffy and white…with a nice orange rectangular pillow. possibly a tie up fabric curtain on the window above the bed. as for the other window, some cream and light grey striped floor to ceiling curtains with wide, horizontal stripes. there’s my two cents!
I would move your bed to the empty wall and put the seating area near the windows – natural reading light?! That is, if the bed fits on the other wall, hard to tell from the picture.
LOVE the color! I’ve heard “bray” called greige. 🙂
Can’t wait to see it in person! 🙂
Love the color. Who would think that “Bray” would be a warm color! I think you guys should build some sort of white “built-ins” on the opposite side of your bedroom. Wouldn’t that look stunning with the white trim boards? Also, white crown would add a nice look to the room. Now if I could only think of something for my room!!!
Great color! So cozy and inviting.
We just moved out of an apartment and into a house that came with an old desk and chair that I am dying to refinish after seeing all of your lovely furniture jobs, but I have to finish the mundane things like unpacking and cleaning first, so it will probably be a while before I actually get to it. random creativity.wordpress.com is my blog with lots of crafty things and recipes 🙂
