Tween Room – Wallpaper Installation!

April 18, 2024 by Bethany Sy

Paisley has been having so much fun dreaming up her new bedroom space. And since she finished with the picture frame molding, she’s ready to move on to the next thing! She found a wallpaper that she LOVES, but hasn’t decided what color paint she wants to compliment it. It would be easier to paint first, and THEN wallpaper. But alas! We’re going to wallpaper first, and then get some paint samples and stand back for a look so she can make an educated decision.

The wallpaper she chose is called Tanglewood Forest – Nightfall from PhotoWall (gifted) and I love it too! It’s got a definite moody vibe, and suits her perfectly (not that she’s moody). 😉

I’ve already got a tutorial for how to install wallpaper with paste, so we’re not going to reinvent the wheel here. But I do want to say that I think using wallpaper paste (rather than peel and stick wallpaper) is sooo much easier and forgiving. Peel and stick wallpaper seems like it would be easier, but once you put it in place, you can’t move it around AT ALL, and it can be so frustrating! The wallpaper paste allows you to adjust until things are perfectly lined up before it dries.

Simply use a paint roller and roll it on the wall before putting the sheet of wallpaper in place!

I helped Paisley get started with the first couple panels, and then she completely finished herself! I wasn’t even in the room! I’m so proud of her.

We don’t have the furniture part figured out yet (one thing at a time!) so we dragged this gold chair up from the living room to “stage”, and isn’t it a whole vibe?!

Next up, Paisley has a big decision to make when it comes to paint color! Will she be inspired to use one of the colors in the wallpaper? Or will she go totally rogue? I’m not going to lie, I was SHOCKED with her choice.

Stay tuned!
