My mom is the ultimate Grandma. She has so many creative ideas and traditions to do with her grandkids. One of my favorites she started a few years back. At the end of November, she gives each of her grandkids an envelope with their name on it. Inside is some money (she does $50) and a piece of paper explaining what to do with the money.

The kids are given an assignment to think about and pray about who they should bless with this money this holiday season. In previous years, my kids have done things like buying gifts for the Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes, donating to St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital, the Animal Rescue League, our local soup kitchen, etc.
It’s wonderful to see kids get excited about helping other, and for their eyes to be open to how much need there is in the world.
My kids have learned how great it feels to help others, and sometimes they even want to use their own money to bless others.
