If you’re not completely open when it comes to your bowels, I won’t be offended if you stop reading now… and never return to my blog.
My strapping husband has become comfortable enough in the stability of our marriage to announce that he needs softer, more durable toilet paper. My first instinct was to get defensive and fight for Angel Soft (the perfect combination of softness and strength). But then I chose to listen to his lengthy proposal for why it’s important for guys to have their super durable, highly absorbent Charmin Ultra. Something about avoiding dingleberries. (google it)
I thought to myself, ‘why is your sphincter more delicate and high maintenance than my own?’
Literally, this man rates TP in the categories of softness as well as durability on scales of 1-10, everywhere we go. He thinks he’s a toilet paper connoisseur.
Is this directly related to why men spend so much time in the bathroom? And why do they use so MUCH toilet paper? They only have to use it once a day (or so), where us ladies have to use it every time!
It wasn’t worth the fight for me, and because my delicate parts don’t require expensive plush TP, I buy two separate toilet papers every time. Think of it as ‘his and hers.’
Since a topic like this isn’t widely discussed, I’m curious how other couples deal with their toilet paper differences? Do you give in and use the TP he likes? Do you tell him to deal with it? Do you even have toilet paper differences?? Yes I’m promoting candid discussion about marriage and toilet paper. Please respond at your earliest convenience …anonymously if you must.

My husband actually likes to use diaper wipes! He would KILL me if he knew that I was posting this for everyone to be able to find but hey! He’s not sitting here and will never know. Otherwise we just buy costco brand because we live in the middle of nowhere and need to have a good stock on hand!
Bahaha! I love that! 🙂
Sounds just like my husband! He grew up with his mom buying the cheapest 1-ply possible to save money so the second he moved out he bought the cushiest toilet paper he could find and refuses to buy anything else. So I just gave in and bought it for him. But what he doesn’t know is every time he leaves for training or deployment (Like now) I go back to buying something cheaper LOL.

My husband is very picky about TP and refuses to use Charmin. We get Cottonelle (my fav) or Scott (his fav), which ever is cheapest and I have coupons for.
Oh my….hilarious! My husband is also a TP freak (thats what I call him) but he also has so have the charmin wipes to use AFTER the paper. The only kind of paper we both agree on is the cottonelle, kind of the best of both worlds:-)
thanks for the validation ladies!!
🙂
We buy what is on sale! 🙂 He used charmin wipes when he needs them, but other than that, my girl parts can use whatever is at hand.
+2 for Charmin Ultra! Tim and I both insist on high quality toilet paper– and any other paper products for that matter. It’s just not worth skimping on, because you end up using twice as much of the cheap stuff. Menards has Charmin Ultra on sale often enough that we never buy it at regular price.
i must admit that I buy mine at Aldi…. thankfully my husband and i are of the same mind when it comes to these things…. I get the Willow brand, and I like it. It’s cheap… and, uh, works
haha..we use Angel Soft too!! he complains but i dont care. He deals.
My husband and I both use Angel Soft. Like you said, it’s a combination of soft and strong. Plus, our sewer repairman said it is one of the best on the markets for going down the sewer channels! I cringe when I go somewhere and the toilet paper feels like you are using a piece of construction paper or it is so thin and weak that it tears off by accident when you are trying to reel it off the roll!
Hey,
ive been reading your blog for a long time and havent ever commented because i dont have a ‘name’ or whatever. but i had to comment on this one 🙂
we DEF. fight about lame ol stinky butt wipes. he uses charmin ultra-cuz less is more- and i use northern-cuz the prices is less.
