I try to be optimistic, generally speaking. But when it’s a sunny day, and I glance at our outdoor thermometer… it reads this:
…(in the middle of January) …(in IOWA)
You may have been distracted by my rotting brown frozen flowers that adorn our outdoor thermometer, so if you missed it, it reads 84 DEGREES.
Dear Thermometer,
Just because the sun is shining brightly and, like me, you’re desperately wishing for melting snow and tulip buds (probably to get away from the shriveled nasties you’re enduring from last summer), it is no excuse for you to blatantly tell me something that is so far from the truth. Because in fact, it is 9 DEGREES outside right now. With a windchill of NEGATIVE 2. Amen.
i love that this started like a letter and ended like a prayer. i know i’m PRAYING spring gets here! i CANNOT make myself go wait for the car to warm up at 5:00 a.m. to go the gym. i simply cannot.
The thermometer is sick of this weather too and just allowed itself to daydream of better days……
I’m with you Beth. -12 here in Iowa City. Spring. . .where are you?
