Pure Nonsense

March 15, 2011 by Bethany Sy

I’m not gonna lie, I’m kinda down in the dumps today. Largely because I’m not scheduled to work at the clinic ALL WEEK, and I don’t have any babies to play with during that time. I do however have a nursery to beautify, and it’s not going well. I messed up big time yesterday. And I’m still sulking about it… and therefore, won’t be showing any pictures of my mishap.

I will however be amending the situation today. It involves another can of paint, and a couple more aching quadriceps. The girls are learning to do squats in utero.

I’ve also been feeling pretty frumpy lately, and largely unattractive. Your first thought is probably that it relates directly to the 25 lbs I’ve gained, but you’re wrong. I think it all stems back to my murky blonde hair, which drastically improved after my girl Ang rescued my locks from the pit of hell. But it’s still entirely… dishwater. Perhaps sometime during this vastly empty and uneventful week, I’ll seek out my long expired bottle of Sun-In.

Lately I’ve been thinkin’ a lot about Spring, and how last year at this time, I was SO super excited to plant my very first garden. This year however, I’ve resolved  to just let it go. The idea of weeding in oppressive heat whilst being full-term with twins doesn’t exactly sound appealing. So I shall continue to purchase my veggies at my local supermarket. I know your judging me. Ask me if I care.

What you can count on is more furniture make-overs once the weather gets nice!! Though our garage is heated and I have a respirator mask, I just don’t feel comfortable aerosol painting in an enclosed space without proper ventilation. Nick has been a real trooper about keeping things moving furniture-wise, but we all know Winter doesn’t do much for motivation. Can’t wait to throw open the garage door and get my paint on!

Things we’re working on this week (in case you’re curious):

  • making the crib, well, awesome
  • painting nursery walls (again)
  • painting a two-tiered end table for a client
  • priming china cabinet and matching server
  • backsplash this weekend
  • pick up a dresser from a client to be made, well, awesome

I know a post without pictures is boring, but I’m pretty darn boring today… so we can both suffer together. Have a great Tuesday!

We closed on our house 5 days before my scheduled induction, I was going for the color “pear green” for her nursery which turned out to be electric neon so it had to be redone. All within that weekend of closing to baby being born. Good luck and it will all work out!

My last garden was planted over five years ago!!! Babies take over everything! I coudln’t imagine gardening with a brand new baby to take care of (summer of 2006), couldn’t imagine gardening with a toddler to chase after (summer of 2007), couldn’t imagine gardening being anywhere from 4 – 8 monthes pregnant (summer of 2008), couldn’t imagine gardening having an infant and one in a terrorsome three’s stage ( summer of 2009) and I couldn’t imagine gardeing while having an adventuresome preschooler and a toddler heading to the terrible two’s (summer of 2010)!!!! I am thinking I might venture in to gardening again this year….still a scary thought and I am sure if I do it, I’ll keep it small. My whole point: don’t feel bad for taking a summer off, some things are much more important!
