So I did something to my back. It hurts… like a lot. And it’s been going on for 15 days now. It’s really hard to feel productive when you’re in excruciating pain. Also, I’m unpleasant to be around when I’m not feeling 100%. Nick knows this to be true… and gets the brunt of it. Sorry babe.
So here’s an update on our lives:
- I’m in the middle of painting the bathroom WHITE. So far I’ve only done the edges and corners with a brush. I’m waiting to roll on the rest after Nick fixes a couple holes in the wall today. And I have big plans for the base of the vanity, and backsplash!
- Stripping is a lot of work folks. I don’t recommend it. But when it comes to my beloved dental cabinet, it’s super necessary since it’s a lead-paint-death-trap. I counted exactly 98 million layers of paint. I’ve completed 4 of the 28 drawers.
- Spring is HERE! Our acreage is hoppin’, and we’ve been soaking up the sunshine like you wouldn’t believe. The girls are like puppies being freed from the confines of a puppy mill. They’re true country girls too… barefoot, dirty, and curious. We’re anxious to get our veggie garden planted… maybe Nick can tackle that while I’m installing a backsplash in the bathroom this weekend. Thanks for volunteering babe!
- I’ve begun running again, and it feels glorious! I love the crisp morning air and watching the sun rise… it’s my ‘ME’ time.
How’s that for a life update? As you can see we’re livin’ large and our hearts are full! Thanks for coming along for our journey!
i’d recommend stretching, stretching, stretching! keeping in mind that i HATE stretching and rarely take the time to do it. i haven’t had much back pain since i had my diskectomy in 2010 but last week my sciatica was flaring up hella bad! did some extra stretching (and grumbling) and it felt better! would see if your insurance would cover a referral to a physical therapist (if it comes from your primary care provider).
Thanks for the advice Autumn! My doc gave me a pamphlet with a ton of stretches that I’ve been doing each day to strengthen my back. I don’t know if it’s helping, but it feels good while I’m doing it. 🙂 Sorry about your sciatica… no bueno!
I was concerned (in a i’m-not-a-internet-stalker-but-we’ve-been-dealing-with-multiple-rounds-of-back-pain-and-it-suks-i-hope-no-one-else-goes-thru-this way), but i see in the comments you can run so yay! my bf has multiple herniated discs; the best relief has been the exercise regimen from his PT. Which I can say look like the “easy” version of the poses taught in my fitness yoga class. Oh and cycling the hot and cold packs. Good luck! back pain stinks.
I’m glad you’ve been able to go running. Running is my favorite me time too. It’s too bad your back hurts though! I’m anxious to see the white in your bathroom. I bet it will look SO bright and clean! Nick should volunteer to give a back massage… just sayin 🙂
he’s been pretty good about giving me massages actually. And totally taking the lead with the girls… which has been a huge help!! WINNER!
If you are having severe back pain, you should probably stop running and find a chiropractor stat. While waiting for an appointment, ice 20 minutes on and an hour off. Ive dealing with back pain for about 5 years and the chiropractor has managed to keep me on my feet.
Running actually makes my back feel better, and I have the ok from my Dr. Thanks for the concern though! I definitely want to do everything I can to get past this! Our ins doesn’t cover chiro’s, so we’re trying other options first.
Your land is beautiful. Sorry about your back- feel better.
Chiropractors can work wonders. Seriously, it’s life changing. Hope you feel better soon. Back pain is the worst!
Tiger Balm, ice and ibuprofen…feel better
