I’ve been thinking a lot about the blog lately, and direction we’re going. But are we going in a direction? If I were asked what the “theme” of my blog is… I wouldn’t know what to say! Most blogs have a primary topic that they cover, but my blog is just a jumble of a bunch of different things (my life!)… home improvements, country living, furniture transformations, parenting multiples, photography, cooking, infertility, DIY tutorials, personal family blog, and very random uncategorized topics.
So my question for you to ponder is… do you stop by the blog hoping for certain content? Or do you enjoy the haphazard combination of my reality? Do you get tired of seeing pictures of my babies? Or do you yawn when you see yet another DIY tutorial? I started boring myself with backsplashes, so I try to keep those on our SE Backsplash Website. Are my posts too long/short? Do you feel like I write too much and just scroll through to look at pictures? We really value your opinion with regards to the content of our little blog, and want to keep you around! While I’ll take all suggestions seriously and looooove my readers tremendously, I ultimately blog for me… because I enjoy it, and I love being organized and documenting the life of myself and my family.
I love receiving comments from all of you! It helps me connect with my readers, and let’s me know that someone keeps coming back for more! Don’t stop commenting! EVER! It keeps me going!
P.S! I updated the buttons to the left (Furniture Transformations and Tutorials) to be more organized and make it easier for you to find posts! Check it out!
I just found your site today, and was prompted to come here by someone’s pin of your changing table makeover on Pinterest. I love your site just the way it is and have also added S/E Backsplash to my read list. I love all things DIY and crafty, and really like the overall tone of your site with the personal bits and pieces.
I’ve followed your blog way back before you conceived, I found you through your headboards on Craigslist, and I’ve cried and laughed at your posts, and prayed for you & your husband to have a baby. I agree with everyone, do not change anything!!! I talk about you to my husband as if you were my family, I learned about the before/after blogs from you! God bless your family!!
Honestly the main reason I keep coming back since I found your blog is BECAUSE it’s a jumble of stuff. I mean I like other blogs that on a specific topic and give tons of info on it; but this is a super great break from that. I like seeing the whole picture of what you can get done with all these other things going on at the same time.
It’s cool.
And you always seem to have the right balance of text & photos for each post 😉
I think your blog is perfectly pleasing just as it is.:)
I enjoy the variety and I appreciate your realness of every day life.
I get a kick out of your humor, too!
your a funny girl, love your blog, love the babies, who would stop by unless they didn’t. Keep going, it gets easier. mary
I don’t see a need to “focus” on a topic. That’s what I like about your blog is the randomness! My blog was supposed to be about going to school while a full time mom but it’s pretty random, like my life. And I LOVE hearing about your little girls because babies are adorable.
I ABSOLUTELY love your blog!!!!!! I love that you are not afraid to show your weakness as well as your successes!! I go to your blog everyday just to hear about your life and that I am not the only person out there that feels like I am in constant “change” mode!! I never seem to be happy with every room of my house at the same time and constantly feel like there is something that I am working toward as my next goal to refinish/replace/paint/change!! Please keep your blog JUST AS IT IS!!!
wow, you guys are so awesome. thanks for being so encouraging!!!! 🙂
I love your blog just the way it is! It keeps me coming back. I think I love most how real it is. I can relate to everything you blog about and I LOVE that. You definetly have a huge fan in me. Sawdust and Embryos is saved in my favorites and I visit it daily!! Keep it up!!
Love the blog – you are sharing the journey of your life! You even inspired me to start my own blog last month!!
No idea how I came across your blog, but I say keep it the way it is! I like always coming to read something new & not always the same topic. Keeps me entertained!
I love your blog…just the way it is! One of my favorite things about it, is that one never knows what you will blog about, and that is what keeps me coming back! The decorating….the girls…the back splashes…your life! Don’t change it. 🙂
P.S. Hope to see you following my blog one of these days 🙂
Don’t change a thing! I love your blog, all the topics, and your style of writing. I’m glad I am not the only one who checks in regularly to see what’s new and how your cute lil ones are doing. I love all your creativity and I always feel inspired after reading. Even though I’ve never met you, I feel like we would be great friends! Keep up the great work. 🙂
Mandy
I agree! keep it the way it is!
I’m a new reader to your blog and what caught my attention instantly is how you mix it up! I love that the posts are not on one particular topic. Keep posting those reno, country living, baby posts. Your blog is fab the way it is!
I’ll say ditto to practically everyone else: I like your blog the way it is! The projects inspire me, the babies are SOOOOO cute, and I know whatever you post will be good.
You’re the only blog I ever read. It has so many things to look at. I enjoy every bit of your blog. From the girls to the tutorials. You have a lot going on in your daily life and it completely interests me. You definitely should keep it the way it is. If you blogged about one thing or had one main subject, it wouldn’t be as fun to look at and read. I love being surprised by what you post. Keep it up! 🙂
Keep it just the way it is. It’s interesting and funny and cute and JUST RIGHT!!!
Denise
I love you blog as it is, I like the suprise of what you will post next! I love seeing your sweet little babies, and your home as your make it over! I like how transparent you are about your life and don’t try to be perfect…that is difficult! It is easier to relate! 🙂 Good job!
Love it just as it is. I check every day to see what you have posted. Wouldnt be as interesting if you only blogged on one or two subjects. Like seeing your babies and also like knowing that there is somebody else out there with a less than perfectly organized life.
I was invited to your blog by a reader after she heard my story of infertility. I tuned in and was hooked immediately. I started from the very beginning and read through each section. Took me a few days. Now I’m caught up to the front and check in almost daily.
You have a great cariety of fun stuff to look forward to, great ideas for the “copycat crafter” in me (can’t wait to try the tissue paper mobile), and your positive outlook is so refreshing. You’re very kind to keep us infertiles near and dear in your thoughts. You are a beautiful success story and it keeps me seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you Beth!
I follow you because you’re real. i love things the way they currently are. The only thing I could use more of is pictures of your animals. They are too cute!
I feel the same way as everyone else. I started following your blog about a year and a half ago after seeing one of your backsplash ads on Craigslist, and have checked in every day since! At that time, my son and daughter-in-law had been trying to get pregnant for what felt like forever, and your story caught my interest. Finding out you were pregnant was almost as thrilling as finding out my daughter-in-law was!! 🙂
I love your style of writing, whether it’s a tutorial, beautiful baby girl stories, discussions, or just random thoughts. I say don’t worry about trying to write to make your followers happy, just continue to write whatever makes you happy!
I like your blog!
Flat out… I LOVE your blog! When on blogger checking my subscriptions, I always look for your blog. Love everything about it. I love the diy tutorials and I especially love your life/mommy posts… I can def relate!
I initially found your blog on pinterest with your teal walls in your kitchen that I LOVE (and am still in the process of priming my walls in our dining room to do the same thing). I love seeing the projects you think of and your sweet little babies! I’d say do exactly what you want with your blog! I’ve been blogging since my almost 7-year-old was 9 months and love that almost our whole life with kids is captured! Keep it up- I just started following you but enjoy all of your posts!
Don’t change a thing. Your life, as is all of ours lives, is a combination of all different facets and controlled chaos. It is so nice to read about someone else’s chaos and not just “living in my own”!
I enjoy you blog as it is. I like hearing about your life – I relate to a lot of it, being at home with little ones myself. I enjoy diy projects, I love hearing how the babies are doing. I love hearing about ideas of things you want to accomplish. I like how often you post, and how real you are. The fact that I can relate to you really keeps me coming back.
I totally agree with what Nicole said. I’m a new blogger as well and i started my blog as my online diary, my private little space in the internet where i can share whatever comes to my mind. I’m super thrilled if people let me know that they like my posts, leave a nice comment and follow my blog, but i have no intention of turning it into a business and those who are not interested in my content are free to read one of the bazillion other blogs out there.
I found your blog via Pinterest and i am mainly interested in your DIY projects, simply because that’s my favorite topic right. But even though i do not have kids ( and my husband and i do not want children at all) i enjoy reading about your experience as a new mom and your adorable little twins. I follow blogs not only because of great DIY tutorials, but also because i am interested in the life of the person who writes the blog. Ugh, sounds like a creepy stalker. I promise i’m not! But that’s why i prefer reading small blogs: they are human, about real life, and not a profit oriented “content-machine”.
Long story short: Write whatever you want. It’s your blog about your life.
I really enjoy reading your blog. I have it book marked on my computer. And I check it every day just to see if you have posted something new. To be honest with you, I like reading whatever you post about. If it was all about just one topic, I think that would make it slightly boring. Pictures or no pictures, you write very well and have some amazing talent. I also love your Friday Photoshoot you do with your ADORABLE little girls. Who could get bored of looking at them? NOT ME!! They are cute and you have every right to brag about them.

I come back hoping to see your creative projects that you have done, and I LOVE to hear how your precious little babes are doing! We have all been waiting so long for them!! Of course not as nearly long as you. 🙂 But I love to hear about/see them. After all, one of the haphazard parts of your life were these little babies you wanted!
I love your blog too…I like the ‘haphazard’ content because life is a bit haphazard sometimes. You seem real, unlike some bloggers whose life is too perfect to possibly be real. I also read all your posts, whatever you write about, you are interesting and inspiring. Don’t change a thing!
A Canadian lurker.
I love your blog. I can’t even remember how I came across it, but I’ve spent hours perusing through your old posts. From your stories about back splashes, to your amazing kitchen remodel, your story of infertility, and all your amazing transformations of old pieces of furniture. I think what I like is that it’s totally random. Every time you post it’s something new. So for me, I don’t even know you, but I sort of feel like I do because you blog about what’s important or interesting to you. Keep up the good work!
I know how you feel!! As a new blogger, I was hoping to be able to start out with a specific focus, but after a year of sporadic seemingly unrelated posts, I’ve just decided to accept my blog’s eclectic state. Make your blog what YOU want it to be. I find blogging to be kind of therapeutic and seeing as I have no intentions of turning it into a business like Young House Love and so many others, I finally realized that the purpose was just to capture my life. And if that means furniture, interior decor, sewing, cooking, photography, or just announcing little life milestones, then that’s what my blog was going to be. Just make sure you categorize your posts well so that readers that stop by on occasion for a specific type of post have an easy way of accessing them, but I say – stick with what you like talking about. I read every one of your posts from start to finish regardless of what the content is about. 🙂
