Who’s up for a quickie?

July 12, 2013 by Bethany Sy

Hey hey hey! Or in the words of Dell… ‘hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi!’

Stripping is FUN! {Sawdust and Embryos}

I’m just stopping in for a quick moment to show my progress on stripping the front door! It really shouldn’t take as long as it is, but I’ve got other things on my plate too… and I like to play ‘musical projects’ (as you know) so I get my fix of all different techniques. Plus, naptimes only last so long… if ya know what I mean.

OH MAN, so fun to see these gorgeous details come to life and the rich wood grain revealed! Can.not.wait to get this thing stained and glossified. Mmmmmm MMM!

The sisters had their 2-year check-up this morning, and I’m happy to report that they’re healthy and TALL for their age. Dell is in the 95th percentile, and Pais is at the 90th. And they’re both around 75% for weight. It’s so hard to remember those days in the NICU when we were trying desperately to get them to drink 25cc of formula and gain 2 oz so we could go home. Now they’re HEFTY little monsters that are eating us out of house and home. We’re SO BLESSED!

    Bethany,
    Aren’t you gonna do the Willow Tree photograph thing this years with the girls? I’ve been reading your blog (including a lot of old posts) for a while now and noticed you had that last year.

    Isn’t it AMAZING! how they turn from teeny tiny newborns, so helpless, into little human beings that have their own opinions. (not that they’re not humans as newborns, but you know what I mean) Those two pictures you have side by side at the end, it’s just heart wrenching isn’t it. Beautiful! Never forget how much you are blessed!

    My front door on my 1904 home is almost the exact same. I stripped it a few years ago and love it but if you look close you can still see some blue or green or yellow or white specs in the little crannies. I think it gives it character! I love your blog ( I am an awful commenter) 1. because you have an old farmstead and so do we and 2. because you have two year old twins and so do we , though mine are boys!

      Cool! Great minds think alike! It sounds like we have a lot in common too! What are your boys names? How do you feel about arranged marriages? 🙂 jk

      Haha if we didn’t live 8 states away I am sure my boys would be interested in older women (they don’t turn 2 until September.) Their names are Byron and Porter they were also miracle babies thru infertility treatment!

    You have totally inspired me to try stripping our front door, which is very similar to yours, with carvings and ledges etc…and a million coats of paint!!

      You totally should! I’m going to do a tutorial soon so you can learn how to get all the paint out of those nooks and crannies… it’s not as hard as you’d think!!
