The girls are progressing wonderfully, and now we’re just waiting for them to put on some weight before we can go home. I would gladly give them each baby a pound of water weight… specifically from around my ankles! Nick and I have been keeping pretty busy and the hospital, feeding the girls every 3 hours, pumping, reading, etc. Nick went to work today, and he keeps texting me telling me that he can’t stand being away from Paisley and Adelyn. And it’s so true! We went to Walmart the other day, and we rushed back to the hospital because we missed them so much!
I keep finding myself thinking about how incredibly happy I am. I’ve literally never felt this content with my life… ever. It’s like things are finally the way they should have been all along. I don’t even mind staying at the hospital. And we’re super grateful that the hospital is letting us stay in one of their small recovery rooms for free! What a blessing. The girls get to leave the NICU from time to time for a playdate in our room. We have lots of photoshoots. They’re very photogenic already!
Adelyn is a spunky, wiggly, wild, high-strung, stubborn little girl with unlimited facial expressions, and various wavelengths of noises. We have a feeling she’s going to be our mischievous little scoundrel. She’s the smaller of the two.
Paisley is super sweet, snugly and quiet, with big soft eyes. She’s harder to take pictures of, because her eyes are usually closed. But boy when she opens them, it’s enough to melt your heart.
Yesterday, Nick and I went out on a date (our second time leaving the hospital in a week) to Applebee’s to use a gift card that we may otherwise not get to use for a very, VERY long time. And although I still totally look pregnant, I wasn’t about to let it stop me from indulging in… this:
Oh my gosh, I’m not a big drinker or anything. But holy buckets. Every newly un-pregnant gal should have herself a good sized Sangria. There was a man at Applebee’s with his family, and he kept giving me dirty looks. I’m guessing because I look about 7 months pregnant, and sucking down a delicious alcoholic beverage. I’m ok with being judged. Especially if it’s in the name of liquor. Wow that sounds bad. You get it, right?
Well, that’s the update on our daily happenings this week. It’s been a crazy week that we’ll remember forever. Thanks to everyone who has commented with with encouragement and support!
Congratulations!

Congrats to you guys again! Glad to hear all is going so well. Glad you got to go on a date before they leave the hospital as date night will become far and few between once you get home. You know, I didn’t drink much before I was pregnant, but when I was pregnant, all I could think of was a big glass of wine! That first sip after my girls were born was wonderful! I totally get it!!
