Dresser Facelift for a Pretty Paisley

April 16, 2012 by Bethany Sy

One of our readers, Brenda, has given us TONS of business over the years. I don’t know how she came across our blog back in the day, but a couple years ago… she had us come paint this mural in her living room. And since then we’ve sold her this end table, painted her backsplash, and made her daughter a profile plaque. I’d say this lady’s a loyal customer, and has become a valued reader and friend!

Coincidentally, she has a daughter named Paisley as well. Here’s a picture of Paisley holding Paisley when we were at their house a couple months ago painting the backsplash.

CUTE, right?! Anywho, Brenda brought us a load of furniture that needs a little cosmetic assistance. And one such piece of furniture is this charming little antique/chippy dresser that needs a facelift for Paisley’s new ‘big girl’ room!

Here are pictures of her bedding and fabric that Brenda will make into her headboard.

We were asked to make the dresser coordinate with the bright and cheery colors in Paisley’s room, using white as a base… and incorporating a ‘paisley design’. Right up my alley!

We began by sanding off all that chippy/unstable paint, to give us a smooooooth surface to prime and paint!

Once this bad boy was painted a crisp white, I used the following paisley ‘inspiration photos’ and drew on my paisleys with a pencil.

And then I started slapping on some paint! This is just TOO fun for me!

It was time consuming, yet so so enjoyable for yours truly!

Then we spayed the whole piece down with poly to seal it and make it super durable and glossy.

We can’t wait to see Paisley’s new little-BIG-girl room when it’s all finished!!!

Awesome job, I think it looks fantastic. I am a huge fan of the paisley pattern (you little girl is pretty darn cute to, though). I wanted paisley patterned bedding, but the hubby said we didn’t live in the 70’s. Oh well, I guess I will have to put them ALL over in a craft room, that will teach him. Anyway lovely job.

That is A-mazing! I wish I had a little girl to paint that for! However, I don’t think little boys I have would appreciate it like little girls would! LOVE IT!
