My whole life, I always pictured myself to be a ‘Momma of BOYS’ type of gal. Growing up with five brothers and one sister (who was 10 years younger), you were more likely to find me building a fort, or burying stuffed animals in the back yard than playing with My Little Ponies or Barbie. So when I found out we were having TWO GIRLS, I was a maybe little terrified.
How will I play with them? How will I encourage them to be feminine, while still letting them be rough-and-tumble country girls?
As it turns out… they’re teaching ME. Who would have thought they’d be into ‘dress-up’ at 16 months?
A girlfriend of mine gave us a box of clothes yesterday, which for the girls is like Christmas DAY! They love to go through clothes with me… pulling things out and handing me shoes and hats to put on them.
They don’t care if the shoes are 3 sizes too big, or if they’re mismatched, or on the wrong foot.
I just stand back in awe of how little girls just naturally love these things. What was I worried about all this time?
I need to have words with Paisley about the danger of distracted driving.
The girls don’t reserve their dress-up preferences to girly accessories though… they also love Daddy’s farm hats, and insist on wearing them frequently.
I’m thinking they’ll also be building forts and digging in the dirt too. And I love that. I won’t be surprised if a year from now, they’re running around the yard in a tutu and cowboy boots.
Love these girls SO MUCH.

I love watching Grace play dress up. She will go put on her tutu and headbands (yes several at once) and high heals and sit and play with farm animals or tell me she wants to go on tractor rides with her dad. 🙂

I too was worried about having a girl, but nothing warms my heart more than seeing her push around her babies in her toy baby stroller and giving them hugs.
Love the pics!
SO sweet, love those babies. Like you post on FB too. All I need is a dead bolt installed and have to HIRE it out! Not the end of the world, but please. Mary in NY

With all sisters, I was pretty nervous about having a boy… maybe we can swap notes. 🙂
Adorable girlies! So fun watching them grow.I have a tutu cowgirl boot wearing girl at my house. It is so much fun. And yes we learn from them…I wouldn’t have it any other way. Enjoy!!
