What we’ve been up to, and project sneak peaks!

June 6, 2016 by Bethany Sy

It’s been awhile since I’ve popped in to share what we’ve been up to as family. Sometimes I tell myself that ‘nobody really cares’ to see behind the scenes of our happy little country-bumpkin life. But when my dear loyal readers are emailing and asking how the heck my kids are, I’m reminded that many of you have watched my kids grow from the time they were born! And you care!

So this post is for you.

We’ve been spending a lot of time outside, tending to the garden, planting trees, and riding bikes.

Cypress has started walking, but still utilizes crawling as her primary transportation. She’s not very ambitious, and her life motto is… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! She’s embraced crawling and is very proficient at it. It might have something to do with being coddled and spoiled by a couple of adoring sisters.

I promise they don’t wear their pajamas all day.

We’ve made a few trips to the local nursery, and I drool over all the pretty things. And usually leave empty handed. Toooooo many options!

There’s been crazy hair days, red clown noses, and climbing the doorway.

Chive flowers, taunting the cats, and bouquets of asparagus.

The girls have been going through a phase where all they want to do is color. So when I throw them outside to play, I usually find them doing one of two things:

Needless to say, Cypress and I get a lot of quality time together.

As far as projects go, I’ve been working on planning a baby shower for one of my childhood besties. We literally grew up together, and now we both will have… wait for it… TWIN GIRLS! After having her own bout with infertility, she miraculously conceived twins NATURALLY… and they’re both girls. Coming soon this fall to an Iowa town near you.

I’ve also been working on a top secret project in the garage… it’s taking F.O.R.E.V.E.R. But when it’s done, you’ll be the first to know. And I assure you it will be awesome.

Another project we’ve got in the works is a super fun yard game. We’ve been challenged by the Home Depot to make an A-frame Yard Game, inspired by this ‘Father’s Day Football Toss’ game.

But we’re able to put our own spin on it and make this project our own! Nick and I have been having a blast putting it together. And cannot WAIT to share it with you next Monday (6/13), along with a handful of blogger friends that will also be sharing their version of this project on the same day! Wouldn’t this be such a fun Father’s Day gift?

In the meantime, if you’re itching to whip this up on your own, consider registering for one of the Home Depot’s #DIY Workshops by clicking here! They also have ‘Do It Herself’ workshops, as well as workshops for kids… where customers can learn how to build décor projects, how to make easy home repairs and how to operate tools through demonstrations and step-by-step instructions. I sooooo wish there was a Home Depot near us, because the girls would just love the kids class!

What’s been going on with you guys? Has the weather been nice where you are? Are your kids involved in sports? Do you have any big vacations coming up this summer? Or maybe you have a wedding to attend every single weekend until September? Spill it!

Our summer is going to go by so fast! Track for our 17 year old daughter is over (her relay got 2nd at State!), soccer for our 14 year old daughter ended Friday. On Saturday we sent the 14 year old on a bus with band and choir kids to Memphis and New Orleans. She’ll be back Thursday night and then early Saturday morning we leave for our family vacation to Disney World. After she gets back from that it’s drivers ed! Meanwhile our 17 year old is working part time at a law office, and she’ll also be her sister’s chauffer to drivers ed, etc. July should be fairly quiet, then family church camp in August. Soon it will be on to their senior and sophomore years, sigh…
