I’d like to take a moment to recap our weekend.
Saturday morning, we awoke at 5, showered, fed and prepped the girls, loaded the diaper bag and car, and headed to Eldora to paint a backsplash!
We then drove directly to Gladbrook where we celebrated our neice, Kendall’s very first birthday! There was grilling, presents, …and cake. Lots of cake.
Upon our arrival back home, we glazed the china cabinet and server. I could show you a teaser picture, but that would require me to get up and take a picture, and I’m feeling mucho lazyo at the momento. *UPDATE!* ~mi hermana informed me the word for ‘lazy’ in espanol is perezosa. Aren’t you so glad we learned a new word together today? YES!
Because I desperately need to get groceries, we ate rice and corn… and watched a few episodes of House.
Next mornin’ we awoke at 7 to a couple of hungry babies.
After some house cleaning, we headed to town for some family grocery shopping. Taking the girls out in public is like a circus freak show. People flock from all corners of the store to see the two babies! “You really have TWINS? LIKE TWO BABIES? Double trouble! Better you than me! Busy Momma!” Yes I have twins. Yes they are both girls. No they are not identical. Yes I can tell them apart, by simply looking at them. No, I was not surprised when we found out we were having twins. Yes, I was overjoyed more than you can possibly imagine. Yes, we have twins in our family… you’re lookin at ’em. No, I’m not breastfeeding. Yes, I get plenty of sleep. Yes, they have totally different personalities.
…and why is it that people don’t have the self control to keep their bacteria covered paws off my precious offspring? Kinda makes me want to carry my crossbow with me.
Calm down, I don’t really have a crossbow.
We spent some time outside on our acreage enjoying the fall air, and walking our “nature trail.” Girlfriends love getting some fresh air.
In the evening, we strapped on our Baby Bjorns (thanks for the second one Carrie!) and did some baking in the kitchen together! As a family! Nick and Paisley made banana bread from scratch, and Adelyn and I made homemade pumpkin pie!! Then we relaxed, watched a couple episodes of House and ate baked goods.
What did you do over the weekend? Was there any painting involved? Or cake flying through the air? Is anyone else inexplicably obsessed with the show House? Ooo, has anyone been to a pumpkin patch yet? Maybe we’ll take the girls next weekend. FUN!
Pardon me now, while I go eat another piece of pumpkin pie.
Hey Bethany! Thanks so much for commenting on my blog! Um, hello your blog is awesome – a blog about twins AND home decorating? OMG, I might die.
and yeah never mind i found the answer by clicking a few times 🙂 AHmazing!

Have you seen this video? It seems perfectly fitting for this post!

EVERY time I go out ANYWHERE I get stopped, “wow are they twins? etc etc etc” It gets massively annoying. This will happen literally about 10 times or more for a simple quick trip to the store. And even people who don’t stop you can hear them say to their family/friends, oh look at those adorable twins! *eye roll* Yes, I know my kids are amazingly adorable, now carry on and f* off! (is what I’m thinking)
For the first couple of months you’re overjoyed and are wanting to show them off, then it gets sooo annoying, you don’t even smile when people ask. I used to care that people touched my kids, but now I just deal with it because it’s going to happen and you have to expect it, also, the strangers germs help build up their immune system. My twins are going to be 10 months soon and we still get the “double trouble” and all those other comments that you mentioned. So my advice is to just get used to it quick because it’s not going away.
It’s like their reactions are that no one else on this earth has seen twins before! LOL
The word for lazy is perezosa. In case you needed to know, I told you.
Also, I cannot tell you how much I miss you. I literally look for pics of you on this blog but instead see your flesh and blood. Is it wierd that I just want to see you in being. I am telling you, the babes would love the Spain culture. First homeschool trip to Spain. You love that idea?
Anyways, love this post and love that your babies are in my clothes for their photo shoot.
Adios hermana.
Oh busy weekend but it sounds like a great one 🙂
I agree with you about strangers and their yucky hands touching babies! People do it to my little man and really I want to slap their hands.
I have had the same comments on my twins! Better get used to it because it doesn’t stop even when they’re older. As an added bonus, my girls will now invite the attention by waving at people, which will prompt the germ infested stranger to shake their hands. EWWW! Hand sanitizer or baby wipes on hand are my solution. Love to read about your life! Love Crystal
I don’t have children yet, but when I do, I will be one of those “crazy moms” with a sign dangling from the car seat that says something like this…

People just don’t understand!! I work in a hospital and I’m a freak about germs – I wish I could wear gloves in the grocery store without ending up on some website or talkshow. :/
Hahaha I love your post. It was awesome and funny. You have an amazing family. I would agree with you on not enjoying strangers rubbing their germ infested hands on your babies.
Beautiful painting. It looked HUGE.
It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. I really enjoy reading your blog. Keep it up.
