We call it Diva

June 5, 2010 by Bethany Sy

We’re pleasantly surprised by the outcome of our most recent headboard!! In fact, all these new headboards we’re building are making us realize how our own ‘original’ headboard we built is… well, somewhat pathetic. We’re coveting our very own handiwork!! It may be time for us to build ourselves something sweet! (With all the free time we have… HA!)

If you’d like one of your own, you know who to call!!

I am going to try and make a headboard like your tufted damask one. I love it. My question is…..this “Diva” one seems to have a border around it while the other one does not. How did you create the border or could you point me in the right direction for the tutorial of that? I read the tutorial for the individual squares and the mounting of them by themselves but I really like this border and can’t seem to figure out how it was crafted. Thanks so much for your help and the awesome idea!

Hey Michelle! This is such an old post! Haha! Kinda fun to be reminded of these projects for yesteryear. 😉 For this headboard, we used the same technique as the damask headboard, only we cut the backboard large enough to have a 4″ boarder around 3 sides. Then we upholstered those edges by stapling on some batting around those edges, and wrapping 8″ strips of fabric around the edges and stapling, and stapling on the front where the upholstered squares will overlap and cover the staples. Does that make sense??

Thanks for the quick response! Even though the post is old, it still looks awesome! 🙂

So,was it one long strip of fabric for each side, then? One long strip 8 inches wide, 3 times? You stapled on the back and then on the front under the squares? And the batting is just around those three edges then? I don’t know why I am having such a hard time picturing this! Lol!

HI Chloe! We no longer make/sell headboards, but we did compose a tutorial on how to make your own! Here’s the link:

I love this one! How much do you charge for your headboards? I would love one like this but with teal fabric instead of the red. However, I live in Texas. Shipping would probably be outrageous…. 🙁
