Projects and Happenings

August 30, 2011 by Bethany Sy

The girls and I are all feeling better and getting back into the swing of things. It’s been a rough few days on many levels, but life is finding it’s balance again. During the day when the girls are snoozing, I’ve been busy working on an upholstered headboard using leftover fabric from the nursery curtains. It’s not quite done yet, but when it is… I’m going to bust out a tutorial for y’alls!

Speaking of tutorials… you’ll notice on the column to the left, we added a couple buttons for you to easily navigate to Furniture Transformations and Tutorials, which seem to be popular. Aren’t we super accommodating?

In the evenings, while the girls are sleeping, the hubs and I head out to the garage with the baby monitor and work on various furniture projects. If we were to focus on one project, we’d get done a lot sooner. But unfortunately, none of them are close to completion. So don’t hold your breath. Here’s one that I’m particularly excited about. These are BEFORE pictures of a china cabinet, just to wet your whistle.

We’ve also been playing and frolicking with our baby kittens. You’ll be happy to know that we’ve found homes for almost all of them! We’re keeping one for sure. Why not! We live on an acreage!

Other things that are going on:
~ I have an ingrown toenail
~ the girls have arguably started smiling
~ I’m gonna make meatloaf for supper
~ my dad is moving to China on Monday
~ it’s raining. and I love it
~ my good friend Meg got married last weekend
~ you shoulda seen her dress. specTACular
~ I’ve been experiencing garage sale/thrifting withdrawls
~ the girls have been sleeping 8 hour stretches at night
~ my belly button is still an outie
~ I love super love my bro Josh

Hi Beth. Congrats on your beautiful girls!!! I’m an interior design student who’s been a long time reader of your blog and a huge fan of your work. I’m also a fellow CL/thrift store/yard sale junkie, so I appreciate the withdrawls your feeling. That was hard for me when our kiddos were little too (they are 8 and 4 1/2 now). I read an article about parenting today that I thought you might enjoy so I’ll add the link if you have time to read it. The basic jist is that we all love our little bundles more than anything, but sometimes it can be really hard work that wears you out and makes you crazy, and it’s ok to admit that once in a while. You are doing an amazing job as a mom from everything I’ve been reading, and I just thought it might help you to hear it. 🙂 Keep up the amazing work! I can’t wait to see what’s next. Oh, and thanks a bunch for the glazing tutorial. I’m on the look out for a piece to try myself. Take care. ~Niki
