    Hmmm, both.

In my own newlywed-just out of college-career woman stage of life, the city (Chicago!) is great for all the restaurants, shows, things to do. I like the busy nature of the city most times.

The things I miss about my farm childhood: being able to see every star in the sky at night, really great sunsets, and twin baby calves. Maybe someday Josiah & I will have an acreage of our own… who knows!

Without a doubt I prefer the city, but with one catch…it has to have the feel of a small town. I love the anonymity of a place like Tucson where I can live my life without too much interference from busy bodies, yet have plenty of people around and things to do. I have all the convenience of a large city without all the crazy traffic issues of a place like New York or L.A.

I’d say I’m a bit of country and a little bit town- not city. Up until I was about 6, I lived on a farm- we raised turkeys and pigs- it was the real deal. It was fun running around with the boys, getting dirty, walking into the backyard to the garden and just eating stuff. Then we moved in town. It wasn’t as carefree as the country. I’ve lived in town ever since but have mostly lived in SMALL towns (no stoplight small). Ideally, I’d like to raise a family in town- not a big city- crime can stay away from me and I’ll sit on my porch and drink my lemonade while my kids play wiht the neighbors, who like us, don’t lock their doors because we’re in a safe community.

City is the pick for me. I love being able to do a different activity everyday of the month and going out to eat 5 minutes away. I love being in the chaos of other peoples life, occasionally i dislike traffic but life in the city pulls on my heart.

i prefer the county… its so quiet and peaceful… the slower pace helps me destress… nothing better than visiting our family farm and finding rest! not to mention the kids can safely run around and have a blast!!! i also really miss having a pool… so many regulations in the city and have to worry more about safety of others b/c of neighbors and lil kids… dan and i have said that if we move (since we just bought a house)… that it would be to buy land in the country and build our own house… that is our dream 🙂

I hate to say “city”… but I am afraid of the country because if someone’s killing me no one can hear my screams… Also in the “city” aka Ames… I can blame any weird noises on the neighbors instead of serial killers… I’m afraid of being tortured to a slow death if you can’t tell… (it’s Alisa btw! I <3 you!)

I prefer the outer edges of a city, where I’m close to all the goings-on but far enough away to enjoy a little more room and maybe a little more quiet. Although we’re moving from the city to a small-town (not a grocery store within 10 miles) and I have to admit, I’m kind of excited!

Country girl through & through. Wide open spaces allow for motorcycles, snowmobiles, and a driving range in the front yard. Also, I got to have more pets growing up than most kids. Nothing beats the search for wild kittens. 🙂

Grew up in the country, moved to a small town when I got married 5 years ago. Definetly miss the country–where you don’t have to pull your curtains, can burn your own trash, and can yell openly (if needed). Miss the smell of mowed hay, the sound of calves and horses.
