My Personal Plant Hero

January 4, 2022 by Bethany Sy

It’s been a minute since we’ve chatted about plants! But don’t worry, my plant obsession is still going strong. I just can’t get enough! Be sure to check out all my plant-y DIY projects here if you haven’t already. And you can take a houseplant tour around my home here!

*This post is sponsored by our friends at PlantHero. Thank you for supporting the fabulous brands that make Reality Daydream possible!

I’ve been a crazy plant lady for about six years, going strong, and have learned SO MUCH over the years. I am so proud of my plants that are thriving! I wouldn’t say I’m an expert by any means. I still have sooooo much to learn.

Even though I’ve come so far with my plant care, I always have plants that aren’t living their best life. With a collection my size, it’s bound to happen! And usually I don’t beat myself up too much.

But sometimes, it’s can be a plant that I reeeeeally love. And when my usual troubleshooting isn’t doing the trick, it’s nice to be able to call in some backup to help figure out what’s wrong before it’s too late!

When PlantHero reached out about collaborating, I was SO EXCITED! They have houseplant experts who video chat with you to help you troubleshoot your ailing plant and help you get it back to being happy again. Why didn’t I think of this business model?

I actually tried to DM Mandi at Happy Happy Houseplant once to see if she would help me figure out why my Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma was losing leaves at an alarming rate. (pictured above) But she’s a busy lady! There’s such a market for houseplant help (PlantHero offers help for outdoor gardening/plants as well)!

Whether you’re a beginner or already a crazy plant person, there’s no shame in getting a second opinion on your sad plants!

It’s basically telehealth for your plants. And I’m HERE FOR IT. Here’s how it works:

  1. You schedule your plant checkup appointment HERE. PlantHero will ask you a few preliminary questions about your plants.
  2. Video chat with your plant specialist who will inspect your plant(s) and help you troubleshoot.
  3. After the video chat, you’ll get an email with a recap of what was discussed (I loved this because who wants to take notes?) and your plan of action!

During my video chat, I learned new things about my Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma, and thanks to PlantHero, she’s finally on the mend! There are even new baby leaves growing on each of the vines. And I’m so glad I had the presence of mind to take a few cuttings when my plant first started taking a turn for the worse. Now that they’re rooted, I can plant them back in with the mother plant, and it will fill in at the bottom where many of the leaves have been lost.

I wish I had known about PlantHero before I lost my palm (remember when I snuck this bad boy in the house without Nick noticing?). I miss her!

Given how many massages I get from people asking me to help with their plants, I have a feeling you guys will be loving this service as well! And I’m doing a giveaway over on Instagram where one lucky person will receive 1 year subscription of messaging + an intro plant checkup (valued at $340)!

And if you can’t wait, use my code REALITY20 for 20% off right now!

I can’t wait to hear all your plant success stories!!

Bethany
