A New Little Fave

August 8, 2012 by Bethany Sy

I’ve never been one to carry a big ol’ purse. It’s beyond me why someone would want to lug around a huge bag that could fit an entire change of clothes. While I respect your need to carry your running shoes, makeup, camera, hair brush, your lunch, breath mints, and a million pennies and wads of receipts…HOW do you find anything in there?!?!

So when it comes to my purse, I’m a minimalist for sure. I only need a few essential things. This is it:

P8071376

Truly, that’s ALL I want to carry with me.

Anywhere.

And now that I carry a diaper bag containing TWO changes of clothes (for the babes), tons of diapers, wipes, butt paste, snot suckers, sunscreen, and who knows what else… do you really think I’m going to drag around a personal ‘purse’ for myself?

NAY! Certainly not!

And until recently, I’d been keeping my small pile of ‘essentials’ in the front pocket of the diaper bag. And it’s been a total pain. It means I either need to take the diaper bag with me everywhere (babies or not), or dig to find my debit card, and run the risk that it won’t end up back there when I’m done with it.

So I did a little searching on Etsy for a smallish zipper-pouchy thing that would perfectly fit my items in a non-bulky fashion. Something I could just grab out of the diaper bag when I’m running into the store quick, or going out for coffee with a friend.

P8071381

It’s a dream come true.

Like totally.

I just pop it in the diaper bag when I’m heading out with the girls, or just grab it on my way out the door when I’m going out childless (which never happens)… (ok sometimes)… (but not often).

P8071373

I bought it from this Etsy Shop, and I’m so happy with it. It’s well constructed, cute, AND it has a little pocket inside that I can put my cash and cards.

P8071379

It’s the small things in life right? That something so bitty and insignificant could bring me such joy.

P8071378

That’s all. You can go about your business now.  🙂

I do the same thing! I use a very small and snazzy camera case. It has a couple of pockets, and the clip/strap is pretty sturdy. I just clip it on and go! Love it!

Oh my goodness I need one of those!! Now that I have a kid, I RARELY use my purse because I always have the diaper bag on me and when I go out by myself I usually just have my phone and a tiny little coin/card purse that holds my debit card and drivers license, lol. Problem is, there are days like today when I drop my son off at daycare, go home and shower, then realize that I left my little coin/card purse in the diaper bag and don’t have time to grab it before the bus comes….which is a problem because I need my ID to get on the bus. Today I need it because I had errands to run but luckily I didn’t get pulled over 😉 and I had my checkbook still.

Anywho, I totally want one of those!

Haha Christine! Let me explain the nail clipper. You see… Nick has a bit of a nail-biting habit, and I have a bit of a nail-biting pet-peeve. So whenever he’s biting his nails, I sweetly offer him a nail clipper. I have to have one with me at all times. 🙂

I’m the exact same way!! I currently keep everything in my cute diaper bag – but even the cutest of diaper bags aren’t something you wanna lug to coffee 🙂 I’ve gotta get me something like this!!

nail clippers??? i don’t think i’ve ever take nail clippers with me anywhere….i guess i make Ada be a minimalist. I stopped bringing a diaper bag out with me when she was about 3 months old- I agree, how can you possibly carry two bags and a baby?? I just stuck a diaper and wipes, and breastfeeding cover into my purse. Whatever I pack for Ada has to fit into my purse (which isn’t very big) or it doesn’t go with us.The exception is when she will be in someone else’s care for 2 hours or more.

I used to carry a teeny purse, but since getting married and having kiddos it’s gotten bigger… that way I could fit things like wipies in there when going to a restaurant or something instead of lugging the whole diaper bag in. But, since having my fourth it was just too much to carry 4 kids a diaper bag AND a purse, so…. I also got a zipper pouch (from thirty-one) to tuck in the diaper bag that way if I have to run in wal-mart really quick while hubby sits in the car with the kids or something all I have to grab is my pouch.

Love it. I’m a minimalist as well. I usually have the wallet and phone in my pockets and my keys are clipped to my belt loop. I have a pink clip like your blue one.

I’ve been looking for something similar for my keys, cards, inhaler, etc. Hahaha! I, however, have just been scrounging around my house for something that will work (make-up case is the closest I’ve gotten), but haven’t actually ventured out to buy something. I might check that shop out! As always, Beth, you are an inspiration! 🙂

Oh geez girl, my car keys wouldn’t fit in that thing! Good for you for being a minimalist! I admire people like that!
