Mom’s Handmade ‘Quiet Books’

October 22, 2012 by Bethany Sy

Have you guys seen these sweet little ‘quiet books’? My mom has started making them! Here’s her first one…

quiet book

Can you believe the detail? I want to show you some of the pages… you’re gonna die from the cuteness. Every page has an activity!

This first one, the left side teaches you to lace your shoe and tie it. The second page felt flowers that button on and off. Sooooo sweet!

On these next pages, the left side has a removable soft toothbrush and toothpaste and a little mirror to practice! On the right, the froggie’s tongue comes out, and with the small magnet inside, it actually grabs on to the little ‘flies’!

These little felt chicks can be removed from their ‘shells’ and snuggle under momma-chicken’s wing!

This next page on the left, you can buckle the puppy’s collar, and on the right, there are nine little felt doors that open up to reveal the same number (and color) of buttons! A great resource to help teach counting and colors!

Below, you’ll see a blank face, and in those little pockets are tons of mouths, noses, eyes, hair, etc! They all have velcro on them so Jr can build his own silly face, just like Mr. Potato Head!

I’m exhausted just looking at this book and thinking about the countless hours put into making something like this. And I only showed you less than half of the pages!

My mom and I may both be creative, but she’s creative on a whole other level that includes patience that I don’t possess (not to mention sewing skills that I also don’t possess).

When I saw that she made this, I just knew I had to share it, because it’s just that awesome! She has added this item as a new listing to our Etsy Shop, but will not be taking more than handful orders for them before Christmas because of the massive time-commitment.

We welcome you to head over and just snoop around our Etsy shop for awhile! We have lots of cute kid-things that could be great Christmas presents or stocking stuffers!

This looks amazing. Wish I could afford one for my niece – she LOVES books. Maybe if I get the job I want I can save up for one! Your mom rocks.

We have one of her quiet books too. Miles got it from Grandma for his 2nd birthday and STILL loves it. We are trying to tackle the shoe tying and clock stuff now. He’s nearly 4 and he still tells us that its his favorite book!

Great idea to sell them on Etsy!
    Beautifully reviewed, Beth!
