You know how I feel about Unicorn Spit as stain, glaze, or even paint (see this post). But even after learning of it’s magical non-toxic properties, I never considered using it as FINGER PAINT until seeing Michelle’s Facebook LIVE where she was demonstrating her ‘Aura Blast’ technique. I had a light bulb moment and decided this would be a super fun ‘turkey’ kids craft for the girls around Thanksgiving!
I’ve been secretly looking forward to it ever since having this idea, and even tried it out myself just to see how it would work and how the colors would blend. I made a quick video to show you the steps… because this is one tutorial that’s more easily demonstrated on video than in pictures! Supply list and cute pictures further down in this post!

Supplies for Thanksgiving Turkey Kids Craft
*This post contains affiliate links*
- Piece of plywood (ours was cut to 9×12)
- Unicorn Spit
- Cotton cloth (we used an old cut up t-shirt)
- Small paint brushes
Here’s an example of what your finished product will look like!
Your kids’ finished product will be a special version of perfection. And we embrace that so hard around here.
These slabs of wood were thin enough to slide perfectly into our Easily Interchangeable Kids Art FRAME, and I popped it up on the picture ledge in the living room!
My girls love being creative, and this activity was ALL THE THINGS they love! If you give it a try, be sure to tag me @RealityDaydream on social media, or hashtag #RealityDaydream so I can seeeeee! <3

HI This looks so fun. How much did you use out of each bottle for two projects? I have a class of 10 preschoolers I might try this with but Im not sure how much to buy.
Did you purchase the brown paint separately because that color is not included with the group of 10 from amazon? What color did you use got the turkey’s body?
It’s frustrating that it isn’t a part of the set of 10. I’m so sorry! Here’s the link to buy it separately>> http://amzn.to/2zuOCFD
The Turkey’s body is gray Unicorn Spit (http://amzn.to/2zxJ9My) but truthfully you could just use gray acrylic craft paint for the body.
Will any acrylic paint work for this? Unicorn Spit is just too expensive for this household!
I haven’t tried it, but yes I would think it would work! It just won’t have the same translucent quality that allows the woodgrain to show through. But you could use acrylic paint on a canvas instead and it would be amazing!
I cannot afford unicorn paint! Will just cheap acrylic paint work?

What colors did you use?
It’s the orange, yellow, white and brown Unicorn Spit! I believe the EXACT names are Phoenix Fire, Lemon Kiss, White Ning, and Rustic Reality. It might actually be cheaper to just buy the full set of 10, but I’m not sure. Here’s the Amazon link! >> http://amzn.to/2icOJvt
How can I get some unicorn spit? I think it’s just alcohol ink but you have not shown any instructions.
Hi Linda! In the post, you can click everywhere that it says ‘Unicorn Spit’ in bold letters, and it will take you to an amazon link. It’s also in the Supplies List above. 🙂
I love this! I’ll show my little 7 year old budding artist as this is a project she’d be all over! Visiting from Remodelaholic.
