The Final Lap

May 20, 2011 by Bethany Sy

We’ve officially started the 3rd trimester! And I’ve noticed a marked difference in my energy level. Though perhaps it’s directly related to the low-quality sleep I’ve been getting. It’s incredible how much time and strategy it takes to roll over! But I love how my girls gently remind me of their presence pretty much all the time. It hasn’t gotten to the point where their kicks hurt yet, so I’m still enjoying their gentle karate. Baby B is very active, while Baby A mostly just likes to do somersaults. It’s so cool how you can tell a difference in personalities while they’re still in the womb! Here’s my belly pic for today:

We had a Dr’s visit last week that had us a little worried about Baby B kidneys, but after finding ourselves in the waiting room of a high-risk pregnancy Dr, we were assured that the abnormalities on her tiny organs weren’t harmful and had a legitimate explanation. PHEW! We were truly freaking out. Here’s our girl B, happy and healthy.

Our duo are weighing in about a week ahead of schedule… almost 3 lbs! And we’re told they’re long little buggers… and I said, ‘well take a look at the giant they have for a daddy!” For those of you that wonder about my cervix, it’s holding strong without any funneling. And our doc expects me to make it well into July! Based on my current state of being, it’s hard to imagine how I’ll feel/look 2 MONTHS FROM NOW. Yowza.

Here’s a Babycenter shot of twins in-utero at 28 weeks. I like having a visual.

For those of you still struggling with infertility, know that I haven’t forgotten you and appreciate you sticking around to hear about our lives. Don’t give up hope, and do whatever you have to do to get your miracle.

OMG!!! I can’t believe I found you again! I had stumbled across your blog about a year ago and read your infertility story. It really hit home with me since we suffered through it as well. I couldn’t remember the name of your blog so i was never able to find out if you guys has saved up enough money to try IVF. So today I saw your rug painting idea and found you again and I am soooo happy to hear that you’re pregnant with twins!!!!
    Congratulations!!!
We did IVF as well and now have an almost 5 year old daughter and almost 2 year old twin boys!!!
I can’t wait to follow along during your last trimester and see those precious baby girls!
Again, so glad I found you again!

Just found your blog today…Love it!
First let me say congtrats on your twin pregnancy♥♥
In reading your story, it brought back so many memories…for I was you 25 years ago!

Endometriosis.Surgery.Progesterone. Miscarriages. Then…my two reasons for living-Michael and Ashley!( name wise, all I have to say is it WAS the 80’s, LOL)

I had to be on bed rest from May until December,( i learned to knit, tho) when my Christmas babies were born via c-section and put into giant stockings in the nursery, LOL.

They are now 25, living in NYC, college grads with significant others embarking on life-all I can say is it is SO worth the fight/drugs/heartache.

You and I were two of the lucky ones-not everyone in our shoes gets to have a child-let alone two! Enjoy your little bundles of joy.

Oh and some unsolicited advice-REST now as much as possible! 😛
