For you, the weekend may be over… but not for meeee! Nick took a vacation day today, and we all slept in… even the girls! It’s been a busy weekend, and I’m so excited to show you what we did! At the beginning of the weekend, our living room looked like this:
After saving our pennies, Nick and I have invested in carpet for the living room! It’s our Christmas present to each other! I do love our 112-year-old hardwoods, but it’s so cold and uninviting, and non-child-friendly. Now that the girls are starting to play together on the floor, and will soon be sitting/crawling/frolicking about, it just makes sense to have some fluffy soft carpet in this room that we spend all our time in!
So we moved all our furniture into the dining room (which will still have the exposed original hardwood flooring), cozy, right?
Nick’s coworker, Gene, came over to help is out with installing the carpet! You may be surprised to know that laying carpet isn’t part of Nick’s professional resume. But it is now!
And now we have this warm fluffy carpet to enjoy! I find myself spending tons of time on the floor with the girls now. And it’s so much more inviting!
We also finally got ornaments and such onto our Christmas tree. Our sad little artificial Christmas tree.
This is my absolute favorite ornament from my childhood. It’s my “Baby’s First Christmas” ornament! Which reminds me, I need to start searching for ‘first’ ornaments for the girls this year!
The girls love the sparkly lights of the tree. It’s so special having them experience their very first Christmas season!
We’re gonna make tons of memories! And take lots of pictures!
YAY!! You didn’t tell me you were getting carpet! I knew you wanted it soo much I’m so glad you got it. It looks great! The girls look like they love their first tree 🙂

Love the carpet, love the tree, love those sweet, awed faces!
Good idea on the carpet!! The girls seem to like it 🙂
I LOVE the pic of them looking at the tree. Priceless! You are blessed.
Love, Cryst
I love your Christmas tree! It bothers me when someones tree “matches” (there’s a color scheme for the bows, ornaments, etc.) And your daughters’ amazement is priceless 🙂
Your new carpet looks great! I totally agree with having some carpet in the living area…so much softer and warmer under foot. Love your tree too. The photo of your daughters admiring it is so precious. You should link your post up to my Christmas Tree 2011 linky!
Love the carpet! Wood floors are beautiful but not as practical with little ones. They are on the floor so much! I love the last picture of the girls! They look “in awe” of the tree and all it’s beauty!
