Bill Board

July 26, 2010 by Bethany Sy

Similar to my crafting ‘illness,’ Nick’s illness is his organization, list-making and spreadsheet obsession. There are times when this is really annoying. But when it comes to our finances… he has a VERY elaborate spreadsheet and system for categorizing all of our expenditures, which comes in very handy. We’re never late making payments, and we can see how much debt we’re knocking out each month. It gets us really pumped up to get our student loans paid off! It’s also very rewarding to see our fertility fund growing. And it IS!

Unfortunately, this ‘organization’ involves saving receipts… which makes for a paper mess. Receipts floating around the house, on the countertops, kitchen table, bedside tables, end tables… just not cool.

So we combined our ‘illnesses’ to make something crafty and organizational… and most importantly, very functional.

I like it already.

And I love that each clothespin is labeled with the categories of where we spend our money.

It’s already coming in very handy!

Can I comment that my favorite part of this is that it is placed so high on the wall?? LOVE IT! I live in a world and kitchens made for short people…. when we finally get around to it…. i’m making matt build my custom counter tops that are at least a couple inches higher than normal.

NO WAY! It is like you read my mind. Before you came to do the kitchen and bath I had already purchased the board and mini close-pins to do the same thing! I am tired of our fridge being COVERED with receipts.

Brilliant! I used to be as strict as Nick until I also had piles of receipts floating around. Therefore, I gave up instead of crafting an actual solution :D. Hats off to you guys for commitment and follow-through!
