Baby Doll Crib Rescue–fixing the wobbly joints!

April 14, 2017 by Bethany Sy

This little baby doll crib was given to my mom when she was a little girl, and is the sole reason she quit believing in Santa Claus.

Baby Doll Crib needs a little TLC and tightening of the joints {Reality Daydream}

You see, her pops got a little careless with the hiding of ‘Santa’s gifts’, and my Mom’s innocent little child-eyes got a fleeting view of this baby doll crib in the trunk of their car before her dad realized his error and quickly slammed the trunk.

Kind of a sad tale isn’t it?

Suffice to say, the baby doll crib has lots of history. And that’s not even including the countless hours *I* played with this thing as a little girl. Now that it’s been passed down to our girls, we’re finding that it’s becoming increasingly unstable. The joints are loose, everything is wobbly, THINGS ARE FALLING OFF. But we deemed it totally worth saving.

The paint job that my dad had given it was still in great shape. And we weren’t really wanting to disassemble the whole thing and rebuild it with wood glue and clamps. So when we looked into this product called Swel-Lock, we realized that this product fixes loose joints by actually causing the wood fibers to SWELL! We’ve since used this stuff on our dining chairs, wobbly wooden stools, and even to fix a hammer whose head had fallen off. So we knew it would be up for the job on this baby doll crib.

.

You know I’m a sentimental girl, so I love seeing my children playing with something that’s been passed down through the generation and has brought joy and made memories with many.

This baby doll crib has lots of nostalgia, and we saved it by fixing the joints with SwelLock! {Reality Daydream}

We were shocked by how easy it was to repair a wobbly antique, and now we’re SwelLocking  ALL THE THINGS!
