Yesterday I and the girls went grocery shopping together for the first time! I had put a lot of thought into the logistics of this, including reading twin books on the topic and talking to other twin moms. The most common idea included having two carts, either with both babes being pushed in one cart, with the cart of groceries being pulled behind (which sounded awkward and difficult to maneuver), or having two carts with a carseat on each… equally awkward. Another idea is to just take the double stroller, and only get enough groceries that would fit in the bottom compartment thingy, and we all know that wouldn’t work since we only shop for groceries once a month. So I decided to ‘wear’ one baby in the Bjorn, and have the other baby in her carseat on the top of the cart. It worked swimmingly! Adelyn was in the Bjorn (cause she’s lighter) and Paisley in the carseat… and they were such good little girlies the whole time! Adelyn slept, and Paisley played and smiled charismatically at all the curious onlookers. There were a lot of double takes when people realized that there were TWO BABIES. Could it be? *gasp* And we went through all the questions with each excited person. In addition to all the typical ‘twin questions’, most people’s first reaction is “Double Trouble!” or “YOU’VE got your hands full” … but yesterday, one elderly lady said “awww, aren’t you such a lucky mommy to have two babies! Double blessing!” I said, “THANK YOU for saying that! They ARE a double blessing!”
It was a sight to see when my cart was overflowing with a month’s worth of groceries and me with the two babies. I almost asked someone to take a picture so I could show you all how obnoxious it looked. But that just felt weird, so I didn’t.
Enough about that, it’s Friday! Let’s look at my cute babies!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are very adorable 🙂 I grew up with an identical twin sister, so I understand the crazy looks and funny questions.

This site has a T-shirt that has all the answers to the questions people ask when you go shopping.
Ah, welcome to my world. My husband always tells people we schedule an extra 1/2 hr. to go shopping to answer everyones questions. I’ve done the push a cart and pull a cart thing. Its a little awkward but not that bad. I just feel like a bad mom to the kiddo in the cart behind so halfway through I switch so they get equal time seeing Mom’s face. Way to go SUPER MOM!
They are getting so big! Every week they seem to grow more. Thanks for posting the pictures weekly. It is so much fun to see the changes in your little peanuts. Thanks so much!
I so love seeing all your updates and watching your girls grow! They are beautiful babies…you are blessed!
look how precious they are. . . OMG Beth, please post a photo of the girls (and the dog) wearing the Iowa State dresses when they finally fit!
Congrats on the shopping milestone!! I remember our fist grocery store outing without Daddy..twins in the double stroller and 2 year old sissy walking beside. We only got a few necessities and all was well until we got to the checkout. Jake started wailing, letting me know he’d really like to eat, Emma started wailing out of sympathy, and big sister was doing her very best to soothe them. I was completely UNruffled, as this had become my norm, but I found myself comforting passersby who were completely undone by the chaos!! “It’s ok, we’ll be home in a jiffy..no, I don’t need any help..no, the crying doesn’t bother me…yes, I have my hands full, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!”
It’s so fun, and you’re doing a great job! Love to see those smiles!
(Wow, thanks for letting me vent!:P)
What an adorable picture of the girls. They look so happy. You are blessed to be a Mommy of two beautiful girls. Anyone who gets to experience Motherhood is truly blessed. It is such a joy. Thanks for doing this blog and being such an inspiration to all of us Moms. You give us such a REAL look inside your life. I love Sawdust and Embryos!!!!
LOVE. seriously might need to SEE them babies one of these days… it’s been a long time!!!!
My goodness, they really are adorable!!!
Thank you for sharing your blessings with us, Beth. It’s a highlight for me to be able to see your Dollies’ personalities emerging each week. While every Friday is a GREAT blessing for me, today was an extra special gift…my work day sucked. 😉
Smooch them from the Winterset Millers!
Paisley looks more like Nick, and Adelyn looks like a Klinge (I see some of your brother Tim in her). Way to go Beth!!
Wow… they are both super happy at the same time? Did you give them their first Oreo’s? We all know how much the spawn of Klinge’s love their oreo’s!!
People always smile and laugh when I go by with my little 2 (or run by chasing Garion). Usually I can tell they are thinking how I’ve got my hands full as well, but I know these kids bring joy to others just with the energy and joy in life, and the joy they bring to me is immeasurable! Your girls are beautiful, and I love getting to see them grow each week!
You are a lucky momma for sure, Beth. They are cute and growing so fast. I love their smiles. You are the reason I know it is still possible for my husband and I to hopefully someday be parents. Love your strength.
