Nursery: The curtains

The truth is, even though we had chosen the “Mustard Yellow” as the base color for our unconventional baby girl x2 nursery, that’s about where our inspiration ended, for a time at least. That is, until we fell upon this AMAZING Turquoise Damask Print on Amazon.com.

Before you start hyperventilating and rocking back and forth mumbling how awesome this fabric is, you can buy some for yourself HERE. And it’s on sale at the moment.

Even though we only needed 6 yards to adorn two windows in the form of curtains, we bought 10 yards… just cuz. It’ll get used somewhere. This fabric has made me fall for Turquoise all over again, in a bad way. Remember when turquoise was all the rage in the early 90’s, and everyone was driving around turquoise Cavalier’s, wearing turquoise silk shirts? That’s so me.

Nick gets some kind of strange joy out of making my life easier. The dear that he is, ironed folds in the fabric where the hems would be so I wouldn’t need to pin everything. He’s a strange and precious creature. And I love him mucho grande.

I’ve been slowly developing a relationship with my sewing machine. And it’s manual. Curtains are a good way to start, I’d say!

My confidence is slowly growing! Along with my wifish-ness.

But let’s get on with the big curtain reveal before you start contemplating and questioning the combination of mustard yellow with turquoise.

The nursery is slowly taking shape, and I’m loving it. We will soon be posting about the rocking chair, crib, and crib-skirt (which are already in place!) and the mobile, closet, and dresser are in the works. Don’t chalk this nursery up as a lost cause yet!!

    Very cute curtains!! LOVE that pattern! Not sold on the combination personally but it does work in a weird way..huh? You never stop surprising me with your designs! 🙂
    Suggestion…which you may or may not need until they are a little older, blackout curtains. Currently, Aaron thinks it’s day time and not time to sleep in the evening. Blackout curtains have helped keep the room dark enough for him to get drowsy.
