Living Room Woe’s

August 14, 2010 by Bethany Sy

The living room has been making my days a little more ‘beige’ than I prefer, and so I’m a-thinkin it’s time to lighten things up!

The first think I did was put about 17 coats of white paint on the trim. Not my favorite thing, but totally worth it.

Example photo below (and YIKES… notice the blotchy sea-foam-green in the dining room from back in the day).

So, because I had a day off, I invited my mom to come down to the homestead and help me paint the living room! (Who could turn down such an offer??). Because she’s a trooper, and because I’m her daughter and she loves me… we painted.

This is one of the many results of having a 6’8″ husband that keeps things like ladders up in very high places in the garage, inaccessible to us normal sized people. We saved the top 3 feet for him.

I would give you after pictures, but after painting the room and being dissatisfied with the color, we realized they mixed us the WRONG COLOR OF PAINT. Apparently ‘Monterey’ and ‘Montgomery’ are exactly the same color according to Benjamin Moore. Whatev. We’re gonna fix it. And in case you’re wondering, we got a full refund. Too bad I couldn’t be compensated for the entire day my mom and I wasted painting stupid Monterey. We got in some quality mother daughter time though.

Happy weekend to you all.
