Leather Conditioning and Protecting Tips

September 30, 2019 by Bethany Sy

Raise your hand if you remember this SWEET Leather Tufted Storage Ottoman we built a few years back! Let’s just say it’s gotten some use and could use some leather conditioning.

*This post is sponsored by Mohawk Finishes. Thank you for supporting the fabulous brands that make Reality Daydream possible! This post contains affiliate links.*

We were (and still are) super proud of this build and it gets used DAILY. We’re not loving how tall it is with our new sectional, so we might end up taking the feet off at some point.

Leather Conditioning Tips

But that’s not what we’re here to talk about! While I would call this ottoman very durable, the leather has seen better days. We haven’t done the best job of taking care of it over the years, and now it’s very dry, scratched and scuffed.

YIKES. Right?!

Leather Conditioning Products

So we’ve partnered with Mohawk finishes to use their Leather Repair Kit to rejuvenate our leather ottoman and brings some life (and moisture) back to it! This leather conditioning product is pure magic!

We share the whole leather conditioning process in the video below. I thought it was so interesting that the process makes it look much worse before it starts looking better. Watch till the end to see how amazing it ends up!

Would you look at how amazing it looks now? We were legit SHOCKED by how great the result was!

Check out the before and after side-by-side!

It’s amazing how the Leather Repair Kit not only conditions the leather and takes care of scratches scuffs, but it also has a sealer to help prevent future issues!

We’re VERY happy with how our leather ottoman turned out! And as always, if you give one of our projects a try, please tag us on social media! We’re @RealityDaydream on both Instagram and Facebook.
