Husbands and Hobbies

June 23, 2015 by Bethany Sy

Top of the mornin’! How was your weekend?!

051

The girls and I had so much fun making Nick feel special and loved this Father’s Day weekend. He loves that the girls share an interest in his model airplane hobby, and took ALL 3 GIRLS to the local air field.

Airfield {Sawdust and Embryos}

When I was a kid, they made bouncy seats for babies that had little canopies for shade… but I can’t find them anywhere these days! I always bring an umbrella outside with me to keep the sun off Cypress… and then I found this A.W.E.S.O.M.E giant umbrella canopy that can basically fit our whole family in it.

Somebody was thinkin. I bought this thing with my allowance, because I knew Nick would roll his eyes. And now he thinks it’s THE most awesome thing. And we bring it everywhere with us!

{UPDATE! We’ve had people asking where we got this thing! I bought it on Amazon here. I paid for it with my own money, but this is an affiliate link because I love it and know you will too!}

Nick let me go hit up some garage sales and do some staining while he played with the girls at the airfield… so it was really more like Mother’s Day than Father’s Day. It was nice to have some peace and quiet, and I know the girls had a blast with daddy too. I’m sure he got some adoring glances when he was babywearing in public. I wish I had gotten a picture of that! This one taken later in the day will have to do.

Daddy and Cypress {Sawdust and Embryos}

This man is such a jackpot of a husband and father. He’s so compassionate and loves to play with his daughters, and he sacrifices in time in so many ways. AND HE DOES THE DISHES. Sometimes.

047

He’s been flying RC Airplanes since he was a little boy with his dad, and he’s recently reignited his obsession love for his hobby recently. He cycles through various hobbies, but I love that this one dates back so many years and that he has so many memories with flying airplanes.

Does your man have a hobby that he sticks with? Or does he cycle through different ones?

    It’s difficult to cycle thru hobbies from the recliner. My hubby is pretty much devoted to his hobby of TV Channel Surfing. Seriously though I’ve loved him since senior year of high school and hobby or not he is a keeper. As for giving each other an allowance – we have never done that. We’re married 48 years in Sept – worked for us 🙂

    Love this! My hubby tends to cycle through (woodworking, programming & everything in between) but he tends to stick with one thing longer than I do. 🙂

      Sounds like his hobbies at least might benefit you too? At least I know Nick’s carpentry comes in handy A LOT. Also wouldn’t mind if he knew a little something about computers. HEHE!

    We drove by and saw all the planes, the kids loved watching them! My hubby stays pretty much the same with hobbies: hunting, fishing, & ammo reloading. I tend to cycle through more hobbies than he does!

      Ammo reloading… LOL! That’s a hobby of ours too. Maybe me more than him!
