The Homestead

September 22, 2009 by Bethany Sy

For those of you that haven’t made it out to the homestead, I wanted to take some pictures of the place to share with you all! The last month has been a wonderful one, getting settled in and enjoying all the new little things that come with owning a house and some land. Reuben has gotten much bigger and has turned into a NIGHTMARE. But we still love him. 🙂

Since we haven’t gotten much rain the last couple weeks, Nick has gotten to take a break from mowing. We’ve been spending a lot of time fixing things here and there, and tending to our 5 acre lawn (including but not limited to: shooting ground squirrels, trapping moles and beating them to death with a shovel, pruning plants that Reuben destroys, picking up little pieces of garbage that Reuben brings up from the burn pile and shreds into a million pieces). We’ve painted both bathrooms, installed a new kitchen faucet, and on Sunday, we bought a dining room table!! Our dining room was the one space that made our house feel incomplete. It just sat there. Vacant. With it’s perfect hardwood floors. So I’ve been checking craigslist from time to time to see if there any good deals on dining room tables, and we found this one!! It’s exactly what I was looking for! I love the way it’s much higher than a regular table, and how it’s square with clean lines. Very classy, yet modern!! Next on the agenda is to paint the dining room walls and put up crown molding. It just might be one of my favorite rooms in the house!! Anyone up for a dinner party?!
