I've decided to start a series of blog postings about my favorite things! Though Nick and I are careful with our pennies, I find myself noticing things around the house that I absolutely LOVE, and feel the need to share with my loyal blog followers.Nick and I have an unofficial collection of mugs, most of which are obnoxious Christmas mugs. But my favorite mug of all is this adorable orangey leafy ... [ Read More ]
Wine Headboard
We just finished crafting this sweet wine headboard. Because of the upholstery tacks, it took far longer than we planned, but felt the results were well worth it! ... [ Read More ]
A Very Colorful Post
Today, May 19th, is my man-boy's 28th birthday. I secretly took a half day at work in the interest of planning the festivities of the evening. Due to the fact that it's the middle of the week, said festivities are to include: birthday cake, presents, and me wearing something scandalous.Did I say that out loud?I baked this fun non-manly rainbow cake. The reason being... well I just really have ... [ Read More ]
Accumulation
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... our boy Reuben brings us lots of garbage, including but not limited to: cobs of corn, broken glass bottles, unidentifiable debris, and sticks... LOTS of sticks. I guess I never really took the "retriever" part of his breed seriously.Over time, this debris tends to accumulate on our porch. But, above all else, Reuben LOVES his frisbee.Yes. That... is a ... [ Read More ]
It’ll change your life.
I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, and thought to myself 'now that girl could use a brownie.' It was at that point I vowed to not rest until there were brownies in front of me. It's true, I regularly crave chocolate and sweets. And for a moment, you might consider asking me if I'm pregnant. But then you would remember. And hold your tongue.I just made brownies from scratch for ... [ Read More ]
It’s a Deal
In the interest of saving money, I'm always keeping my eye out for good deals. When we first started saving money for the InVitro fund, I would have a violent war going on in my head when it comes to purchasing things that we absolutely NEED as opposed to the things that we just kinda need. It started getting a little out of hand, so in recent weeks I've been attempting to loosen up a ... [ Read More ]
Headboard Reveal
We've been working like a couple craizies, but the most fun has been had in the form of painting backplashes to look like real tile, and crafting custom headboards for a little side cash. It's helping our Fertility Fund grow little by little!!So here it is! Our most recent headboard creation! I give you... the handmade Chocolate Brown queen sized headboard. ... [ Read More ]
In Other News:
Here's what we've been up to:1. YARD: mowing, planting, and weeding. Our vegetable garden is sporting some tiny green shoots! It's the closest I'm getting to creating new life these days... it will have to do. Nick spends many hours a week listening to the obnoxious humming of the riding lawnmower... his throne, his sanctuary.2. JOBS: Nick continues working full-time at Fisher Controls and ... Miles Away
Let's talk about Miles, because I miss this little tot like crazy. This photo has been on my computer desktop for some time now. When Nick and I are sitting on the couch watching TV, with the computer in eyesight, and I regularly say, "look at Miles. I love that guy." Nick get's tired of me saying it constantly.Miles and his mom and dad (my sister-in-law and older brother) are currently residing ... [ Read More ]
Disappearing Act
So last weekend, our boy Reuben disappeared for a couple days. And based on the fact that we haven't removed his man-business, his departure shouldn't have surprised us. Shockingly, I missed the little devil and legitimately worried about him. And then 2 days later, there he was in his doghouse when we came home from work, with an injured leg and tail. He was acting very weird and lethargic, ... [ Read More ]
