Starting a new project!

April 1, 2013 by Bethany Sy

This morning I woke up with one heckuva cold. The pressure in my sinuses feels like an anvil on my face. The sisters are still sleeping currently, and I’m hoping and praying that they wake up not feeling like I do. Because this momma is in no shape to win parent-of-the-year today.

I won’t be winning blogger-of-the-year either… because we’re mid-project at the moment, and I have no beautiful finished awesomeness to share. But I will let you in on some of the action.

Our upstairs bathroom has been a little neglected when it comes to home improvements, other than the detoxifying we did in there when we first moved in. But this is our only bathroom on the second floor, and it’s extremely small considering we have two daughters that will eventually need to blowdry their hair and exfoliate their faces. The counter space was LACKING. Not to mention FUGLY.

I love taking pictures with a mirror, because I prefer everyone to see me at my worst.

P3281869

As you can see by our toiletries strewn about, we have an apparent lack of storage as well. The lack of organization makes me cringe and twitch a little.

So anyway, Nick is extending our bathroom vanity on either side, and will be building a butcher block countertop and installing a new sink and faucet in the next week or so. He loves building cabinetry, so this is all right up his alley.

This is where we are so far, just so you can begin to visualize. The doorway is to the left, so we rounded that side off so we won’t gouge ourselves when entering and leaving the bathroom.

And that’s where we stand! Don’t worry, it’ll all be one color when we’re through… and NOT that tragic peach color either. And the countertop will extend over the entire thing! We’ll keep you updated!!!

On a completely unrelated note… Nick came down the stairs this morning, and said …Happy April Fools Day, in a mono-toned voice. I briefly looked up from my computer and said… oh yeah, I’m pregnant. And he said, congrats… did you make coffee yet?

Are any of you planning any SWEET April Fools jokes? DO TELL!Bethany {Sawdust and Embryos}

    Can’t wait to see the finish product. I think you should keep the peach. It may come back. LOL. I have always wanted to be newly pregnant around april fools day, and do the joke “Hey I am Pregnant” and everyone make comments about it being April Fools and I go along with it, and then April 2nd say “No really I am”. Unfortunately, my 3 babies like to be born in May or June. (I think people would have figured it out if I waited till April.)

    So everyone else is commenting on the project (which is awesome by the way) but I’m here totally cracking up over your april fools day exchange. 🙂 I’m weird, I know. 🙂 I failed at doing anything this year.

    hiya Chicka!!
    lovin the rounded corner-my kitchen has a rounded shelf very similar- it was kinda hard for storage-but I found some cloth collapsible basket type at dollar tree and can utilize that area better & a basket usually looks cuter than a modge podge of clutter.
    Hope you feel better soon- spring is coming & almost time to say goodbye to my lovely snow.

    talk to you soon!!!

    Sorry you’re not feeling so hot. Bathroom vanity is going to be great! I’m sure I’ve never mentioned this, but, you are my absolute favorite blog, hands down #1! Now that’s saying something as I read/subscribe to way too many. I thought you might like to know. Really, no special reason for telling you now. Oh, by the way, I’m starting a project soon, might need to ask you a few questions. Would that be okay? I mean, seeing as you’re my fav blog and all. LOL! Seriously do love what you do.
