A few weeks ago, while working a Saturday, I phoned the hubs to see if he could whip up a bean-bag toss game for our BBQ that we were hosting that night.... thinking. 'all you need to do is cut a couple boards into the same sized rectangle, and put a hole in them.' Honestly, I didn't want it to be fancy or anything. I just love bean bags ok? And yard games in general. And this is what I came home ... [ Read More ]

Recycling Scribbles
After our kitchen demo/reno, I took the liberty of putting up these three little unfinished wooden picture frames above the coat rack. They've been serving their purpose, but let's be honest... these photos were taken about 8 years ago (no exaggeration) and they were taken with a CHEAP camera (less than digital) and by an extremely amateur photographer (yours truly). Here are the close up's so you ... Restoration
Excited to launch a new category to our creative portfolio, Nick has allowed me to scour craigslist for ridiculous cheap finds on old, solid wood pieces with great detail and tons of character. We then take said pieces of furniture and refinish them... to be more awesome than their previous selves.I wanted to share my most recent project. (These are BEFORE pics obviously) We picked up this ... [ Read More ]
TV Stand
What would you call this? A TV stand? A coffee table? A buffet? I probably would know if I hadn't dropped out of Interior Design school... but I have no regrets.Anyway, this darling piece of furniture I found sitting by a dumpster when I was helping my bro move out of student housing a few years back. I probably wouldn't have snagged it if we weren't already loading a truck... what's one more ... [ Read More ]

Mag Rack
Awhile back, my mom bought me this sweet magazine rack at a garage sale. I love it. I've tried it out in every room in our house, because I just like to look at it. I also like to store our magazines in it. For a brief moment, I thought about painting it... until Nick threatened to tie me to a tree and flog me. Them menfolk love their natural wood! ...hmmm. Don't read too far into ... [ Read More ]
Future Garden
Because I need something to look forward to, I'm excited for spring in an absurd, foolish sort of way. On a scale of 1-10, my knowledge of vegetable gardening is about a 0. But between my mom and Google, we should have at least a few successful veggies over the summer. And if nothing else, my garden will keep me out of the house and my mind off my reproductive dysfunction. And it should save us ... [ Read More ]
Little Rascals
My wild-eyed Siberian boy Otis is looking forward to summer just as much as the rest of us. He occasionally disappears for a few days at a time, but for the most part, you can pretty consistently find him in the wooden kitty shelter his dad made for him and Gretchen to get out of the winter weather and escape from the demon dog Reuben. It's a miracle they both fit in there ... A Stamp of History
I don't really have anything to say at the moment, just bored and feel like writing! Currently my feet are really cold, a side effect of having hardwood floors. There are occasions when I think it would be nice to have carpet, but then I think about how beautiful and OLD our floors are. They are the original floors when our house was built in 1900. Which brings me to considering how much history ... [ Read More ]
The Homestead
For those of you that haven't made it out to the homestead, I wanted to take some pictures of the place to share with you all! The last month has been a wonderful one, getting settled in and enjoying all the new little things that come with owning a house and some land. Reuben has gotten much bigger and has turned into a NIGHTMARE. But we still love him. :) Since we haven't gotten much rain the ... [ Read More ]
