First Trip to the POOL!

June 18, 2012 by Bethany Sy

This past weekend was that last free weekend we’ll have for a long time. You’d think it would be relaxing… but if you’re a regular here at all, you know weekend and relaxing don’t live in the same world. But I wouldn’t have it any other way!

We took the girls swimming on Saturday! I was going with the girls and my friend Leah, but at the last minute, I talked Nick into coming along too! (He has anxiety about the craziness of public pools).

Nick just couldn’t miss seeing their reactions to their very first pool experience. And we were so glad Leah was there and willing to take pics! AND we actually got a video of them hitting the water… listen to Dell chattering away!! Fine print: Please Oh Please consider ignoring my cleavage in this video. Believe it or not, this was my MOST appropriate swimming suit. This momma needs to invest in a MOMMA-suit!

There were a few moments of baby-insecurities, but for the most part… the girls had a blast! And mommy and daddy too!

We successfully got the babes all tuckered out and ready for looooong naps. They wouldn’t even look at the camera!

In addition to our swimming festivities, I completed a TWO MILE RUN (longest distance I’ve ever run!), a little furniture touch-ups, making Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Pancakes and Coffee Cake for Father’s Day… and we even squeezed in a backsplash to top things off!

We got the umbrella strollers at a twin garage sale for $5 bucks each… but you can get ’em super cheap anywhere. And then we ordered the adapters from Amazon.com for $10. It’s such a lifesaver. The stroller is very easy to steer, and lightweight. The only downside is that it doesn’t fit through every doorway. 🙁 Here’s the link for those adapters!

This is a random questions, but where did you get your umbrella strollers and this little thing to attach them together? Does it make it super hard to steer when the strollers are attached like that? We have one of those tandem double strollers and it is HUGE. I was looking into getting a double umbrella stroller, but they can be pricey, so I thought I would look into doing it the way you did. Thanks!!

Soooooo fun!! I want to take my girls “swimming” so very bad, but they don’t sit up yet, so I am thinking it wouldn’t be that great for them. I guess I could put them in those floaty things like you have or just hold them… Somehow it’s cuter in my mind if they can sit up. Hahaha! They have bathing suits and everything. In fact, Macy’s is MY suit from when I was a baby!

I so enjoy reading your blog and watching your girls grow, they are precious. And you look HOT, mama!

that’s a great picture of the girls in their stroller (both fixated on their toes). You look great Beth. You’re life is so different than it was when I first stumbled upon your blog. I’m so happy for your family.

I’m super glad that Nick didn’t miss out on that! Such a fun first for the ladies! You both NEEDED to be there. Videos are great, but don’t replace the full experience 🙂

    And… Congrats on the run!!!!

I see the disposable swim diapers in a pic! and I just wanted to let you know since I found out the hard way, get reusable swim diapers, so much cheaper and they only catch the poo, and never had my babies pooed while at the pool! it will save you tons of money!! etsy.com has some cute ones, but target/walmart sell some too!!
