When I was a little girl, I was quite the artist. My mom was thoughtful enough to save all my masterpieces. Here are a couple of examples.
Don’t ask what I was thinking, because I have no memory of drawing these. I was 3.
Somehow, my mom saw the cuteness in my bizarre creativity, and crafted these adorable dolls using inspiration from my drawings.
It’s no secret that I loooooove things that are sentimental. Whether it’s an item that was passed down from a grandparent, something that I have a fond memory of from childhood, or something that was handmade. And these little precious dolls has two of those things! My mom lovingly sewed them, combining my creativity with her very own!
And I think she did a pretty good job of capturing my very strange style with her mad sewing skills!
If you’ve visited our Etsy Shop recently, you may have noticed that my mom is custom making these for others now! All you have to do is send us a photo or scanned image of your child’s artwork! And the picture doesn’t have to be of a human being… it can be a monster, or a monkey, or a dinosaur, ANYTHING! This is such a perfect and meaningful gift for your little artist… even if that ‘little artist’ is grown up now! They’re soft, snugly and durable… perfect for loving OR displaying!
Here’s an example from my younger brother Tim’s childhood drawing!
And the best news yet? We’re doing a GIVEAWAY for one lucky reader (and their lucky little artist!)! To enter the giveaway, EMAIL US at sawdustandembryos@gmail.com and tell us your child’s name, age (now and when they drew the picture) and an attached image of their artwork (either a photograph or scanned image). One entry per child! We’ll announce one lucky winner one week from today! That gives you a whole week to shuffle through your child’s artwork and send it our way! Good luck!

I just started following you…whenever it was I posted about the stained flower on that coffee table…what, maybe aweek ago? I am SO hooked! Everything you post inspires me, and this is no exception! I mean, OMG…what a totally creative genius-y and loving idea! I’m all misty-eyed right now at how sweet this is. I am pretty crafty myself and overly sentimental, so I am torn between buying one and trying to do it myself…one way or another, it’s happening…wow!

Totally pinned this! I found another lady who did it who was so overwhelmed she wasn’t taking any more orders. I hope your mom gets enough orders to have that problem! What an amazing gift!

I love it. That is totally awesome that your mom did that with your drawings. And they are almost identical yet a little more “real life”.
